I've heard Australians say this about their northern territories.

Interpersonal relationships is a big reason. Our CTO has been pushing for us to continue to go into the office as much as possible for cultural reasons. At first I was very hesitant, but it appears he was at least partially right. There has been a noticeable shift of communication style and a decline in trust amongst people who used to work together in the same office and are now working remote. We used to play board games and solve jigsaw puzzles during lunch breaks/downtime and had very friend-like relationships. Now, we're turning scheduled meetings into bitching sessions because we have nowhere else to do it. We now have recurring meetings where we play games together virtually for an hour, but it's nowhere near as effective as building relationships and, most importantly, trust amongst our teams.

It sounds like you're implying you wouldn't have had to install it without this news breaking. Is that the case? I'm curious about this topic if you care to elaborate. What is a bolt press machine? How has this news affected you?

Most sites don't even give you an option to reject the "functional" cookies. The only degradation of experience you'll get by "rejecting all" (which doesn't reject functional cookies) in most cases would be less relevant ads. Those who are privacy-minded generally prefer "reject all".

As often as I hear others with the opposite opinion, my experience is very similar to yours. If I want to find the answer to a question fast, I just use Google. If I'm just browsing a new topic, I try DDG first and much of the time end up using Google anyway.

As someone who's only recently heard of SearXNG, why searx and not SearXNG?

My family would make a dish which we called Hot-dogs-with-cheese-on-top-in-the-oven. We'd take hot dogs and cut them in half, place them flat-side down on a piece of white bread, and put 2 slices of American cheese on top. Pop them on a pan in the oven until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted. Simple and delicious.

Exactly. I watch a lot of YouTubers who don't really like having to make clickbait, but it's the algorithm that promotes it, so they need to conform to what works.

I subscribed to a paid version of YouTube Music many years ago, and at some point, due to some changes by YouTube, this automatically converted into a Premium YouTube membership, and I've been somehow locked in at $9.99/mo since then. Thankfully, my wife doesn't care about watching ads, so we don't need the family plan. That being said, even if I had to pay full price, and even if my other family members wanted Premium, I'd still pay for it. It's 100% worth it from my perspective, for all of the reasons you mentioned.

The app called "Jerboa for Lemmy" works great for me on Android.
