I appreciate that the sub is more for physical tabletop gaming, but I wondered if posts about the game Tabletop Simulator are welcome?

I've used it for several years to test and tinker with game ideas and have put out a few games, battle maps, and general utilities over the years.

Anyone else here using it for their tabletop gaming needs?

Hi! Yes, Tabletop Simulator is fine, as long as it stays on topic of course. It's still a virtual table after all!

I use tabletop simulator to play with my boyfriend and to be quite honest it is the best way to experiment with new game ideas and have fun with people abroad. The kinds of custom games people make really amaze me at times, and it makes for cheaper entertainment for folks who don't have the kind of money (or space) to buy a physical table-top every time they want to try a new one.

I've really enjoyed using it! Most of the things I end up making aren't "classic" tabletop games, like this remake of the Flash game Castle Wars. It's a card-battle game, but relies heavily on 3d models, animations, and explosion particle effects.

I'd hope so. Unlike digital implementations, TTS is literally just the same board game, but on a digital space. Scripting etc can help, but it's still the same at the end of the day. I don't count digital apps in my board game tracking app, but I do count plays on TTS, as they really are just the same thing, different place

Several years ago I watched two people play a game of X-Wing on one. I wish I could remember the name of the app. I played a few solo games of B17 on it, too. It may have been an older version of Foundry VTT, but my memory is a little fuzzy.

I've also played on them at a convention, where they had a Staggering Dragon table.

I really enjoy messing around with them, but I'm too slow to feel comfortable hosting a game with one. Amazing tools if you're good with them.

I just bought it today, so I really would like them to be welcome!

As a main solo player, do you have any suggestions? I got it to test new games before buying, but I can see myself using it exclusively for some specific games with long setups, so I can pause mid game to continue later.

I originally bought it to play DnD with friends. However, I got so distracted with tinkering around in it that I spent more time making battlemaps and utilities than I ever did actually playing a campaign.

I'm not sure about solo games specifically for it, I'm sorry! Have you had a look through the workshop for things?

Spending time making battlemaps is gaming too! But I totally understand what you mean.

Yes, I spent some hours (time passed quickly) checking some games in the workshop. I'm quite impressed with some of the findings.

I started using last week to play X-Wing with a friend. We a going to play the coop campaign, Heroes of the Atari Cluster, and I'm quite excited about it !

It's the only way I can get my partner to play board games with me, which is really disappointing because I absolutely love the tactility of game pieces. It saves the trouble of cleaning off a play area and setting up and breaking down the games but that never really bothered me.
