I know people will hate this: but if we want stuff to be good for consumers, we have to be willing to pay for the stuff.
We ended up here because no one is willing to pay for anything (in aggregate).
Personally, I believe that YouTube js worth paying for, even if that means that my money is being sent to people I don’t necessarily like.
Nebula is a small piece of the game and they basically work by taking the successful YouTubers. Until they are able to foster new talent from scratch, they are not a replacement for YouTube (saying this a nebula subscriber).

Nonsense about “unobtrusive” or “acceptable “ ads are just lies we tell ourselves since, in 30+ years of web use, I have never seen one that the community will tolerate at scale.
If you can show me, please link.
I think majority of the people have been realizing this lately. Particularly, of good functional and privacy respecting apps. However, if a service started off as free for all from the start like youtube and twitter, that's where there is gonna be trouble in introducing long time users in a paid format. With youtube, I'm in the same boat as it is being worthy of a monthly subscription. With twitter on the other hand, i am aware of it's tool as a realtime updates on current events, just not that into it having rate limiter and subscription payment for being verified. I dunno, I think it's more of a gimmick rather than a tool now. I hope somebody corrects me of my opinion of twitter, cause I just don't see any value to it anymore. I'd rather brands and people more to mastodon.
Nonsense. I didn’t start using an ad blocker until videos became a nightmare to watch. When it was just one skippable ad it never even crossed my mind. It’s greed. Not “we need money to run servers”.
