I'm a little conflicted. The experience of the game was definitely perfect, but the nature of it also means replay value is low. It almost feels weird to try to compare it to, say, a Skyrim or whatever.

My favorite story game was Bastion for a very long time. Pretty much everything about it is great and it is on deep discount for the summer sale.
My current favorite story game is Outer Wilds. I suggest you know nothing about the game going into it. If you get stuck (and you will at a few points) try to find help that is as spoiler-free as possible. It has a lot of story to it, but the emphasis is on uncovering the story by exploration.
This is a bit of a weird one, but SanctuaryRPG is currently 83% off ($1.35USD). It's a text based RPG with permadeath, which is not something I would normally enjoy, but something about it has been nostalgic enough for me to spend ~5 hours on over the last couple of days. It harkens back from 2015, but if you missed it, there are a lot worse ways to spend a couple of bucks.
I wonder why they haven't flipped it over yet? MMOs are never "done" and they are taking subscriptions so Early Access seems strange. On the other hand, it does have a demo, so I might try it anyway.
EDIT: A few hours of the demo was enough to convince me to drop the discounted price on the game. The graphics are meh, but the game seems to actually perform pretty well.
I liked the game, but it was short of perfect. Parts of the last episode felt rushed and while it tries to pretend you have two choices at the end, only one got properly fleshed out.
