It is photoshopped. The original.

Actually really unethical journalism to do that shit and not even add a disclaimer. And even if they added a disclaimer it should not not be the image that shows alongside the article in a feed.

It has been quite nice this summer in Denmark for those that usually hate it. Usually I retreat to the coldest darkest corner of my world to survive, but not this year. Very windy and rainy with most days sub 20C (68F). It can stick around as long as it likes.

Some not yet mentioned.

I wonder how many russians are actually happy with this outcome. Kremlin loyalist must be depressed, since their leader basically turned into a puppet. And the extreme wagner supporters wanted it to go all the way. So both sides hardcode supporters are now depressed. Some wagner members probably just wanted putin to concede even after his speech so they may be happy. Civilians that support none may be happy that their society didn't collapse and cities turned to war zones.

Ukrainians are disappointed that the distraction didn't last a little longer, but none the less content with a weakened Russia.

Well that was... weird.

I saw several alleged videos of russian frontline units pledging their support for Prigozhin. Combine that with how little resistance wagner faced and Putin might have realized how weak his position is and given in to replacing MOD staff. Not a good look the same day he declared Prigozhin a traitor and promised punishment.

Trading the long-term stability for the short-term. Because now every aspiring russian warlord know that if you don't like something about the state, all you need is just a big enough private army to bully the kremlin, lol.

Been following it since yesterday when it kicked off. Events so far:

  1. Wagner claimed that russian army shelled their base yesterday. The verdict is still open on that one.
  2. Supposedly this action, plus previous grievances, made ️Prigozhin decide to leave ukraine and enter Rostov in Russia. Rostov is a oblast capital and major military HQ for the invasion forces.
  3. The claimed mission was to punish the ministry of defence.
  4. Wagner captured Rostov with little to no resistance. And also drive towards Voronezh, another oblast capital.
  5. While army personnel are ordered to block wagner, they seem to either join them or let them pass without a fight at nearly all points.
  6. Russian air forces did engage wagner, and wagner seem to have downed several aircraft.
  7. Wagner also enter Voronezh unopposed, or bypass it on their way to moscow.
  8. Putin declares this a rebellion and treason, ask soldiers not to join wagner, and will respond with military action.
  9. ️Prigozhin and wagner bloggers seem to reject putin and some are now starting to call it a civil war. Possibilities of negotiation are looking very unlikely now.
  10. Russian helicopters are bombing oil/fuel depots in Voronezh to prevent wagner from using them. As well as threatening to blow bridges to moscow to slow wagner's advance.

Reddit moving against my preferred clients. I'm not abandoning the site completely until both third-party and old.reddit is gone, but thought I might as well have a foot out the door. Lemmy just seemed like the most closely related option.

Did you acquire a game in a big bundle, or for free, which you didn't intend to play but did anyway and ended up loving it?

Mine is undoubtedly Heaven's Vault. A story rich, very slow, puzzle game that takes you to different locations to solve linguistic puzzles. Asking you to slowly decipher and learn an ancient language. Even though the puzzles are very similar all throughout, the constant attention it demands and clues you naturally discover keeps them interesting. So interesting in fact that you might even go back to previous puzzles in order to apply your new knowledge to discover even more, despite the game never asking it of you. It is one of very few games that has given me the sinking feeling as I approach the end, which granted it a rare seat in a special steam category in my library of too-many hundreds of games.

Well yes, but it's not very hard in Copenhagen.

Oh nice, I actually hadn't noticed that they added coop. I could certainly use an extra hand right now as I'm just stuck on playing whack-a-mole with the remnants of the war-in-heaven losers. So much border gore, closed borders, and million tiny fleets everywhere unexpected and recapping their territory. This was the part I didn't miss, and why I've never finished a game :)

No. It is a language model, not a wiki. A very good model which can output correct info, but there is no rigid mechanism to restrict it to only facts.

I think it is a good addition. The council gives a better roleplay representation of your government than I recall before. The paragons that occasionally shows up can be interesting and powerful leaders.

But again, I haven't played for long time so not a lot to draw comparison to.

I don't play stalleris regularly, but every other year or so I buy all the DLCs I missed and start a game. All the crisis' have come and gone and I'm just mopping up a war.

Multiple times lately I've gotten 502 Bad Gateway when trying to access the instance. It is then back to normal after a minute.

There's the influx of users, like myself, but those are only in the few hundreds from the numbers that is displayed.

Do you play VR? (self.gaming)

Wondering whether there is a VR community here. What systems? What games?

My first and only headset is a Valve Index which I think I bought when it was released in summer 2019. Prior to this I had followed VR development since the Vive was released. Luckily I am immune to VR nausea, so I proceeded to dive straight into everything it had to offer. Would say VR is at least half of playtime.

The Index package is still fantastic. The controllers are really comfortable with great features. The lighthouse tracking is very precise, reliable, and has no blind spots when setup properly. The headset itself is comfortable with great FOV and good enough display. So far I have only found two general lackings in terms of hardware. One is controller quality control. When you get a set of controllers that work, then they work great. But in the past, and maybe still now, there's was an unfortunate high change that you would get one with some malfunction that meant you either had worse experience, or had to go through RMA. I've had a particular unfortunate streak of controllers that I constantly had to send back. Luckily the valve RMA process is easy and generous. The other downside is of course the tether. I have the best cable-management system I could find, but that is still no wireless. But that might change soon as the nofio wireless adapter is soon to release.

As for games, I quickly found my preference for physics-based games where the primary gameplay emerge from the physics interactions with the game-world, in contrast to more traditional gameplay systems. Examples of this include Boneworks, Blade and Sorcery, Hotdogs Horseshoes and Handgrenades, and somewhat Half-Life: Alyx. I also frequent short-form or rythm games, such as Eleven Table Tennis, Unplugged, Beast Saber, and Drums Rock. I also wanna give a highlight to Contractors VR. While I don't particular like the vanilla gameplay, I have found the modding community to be absolute magic. SW: Battlefront, COD Zombies, TF2, and Halo are among the popular games that have been faithfully recreated as Contractors VR mods with amazing similarity to the original games. Seriously, if you liked any of those old popular games and haven't checked out Contractors I highly recommend you do.
