speaking of grayjay, how is it? I remember it releasing and then heard a whole lot of nothing after the fact, is it a solid client? I'd love something like vanced that doesn't require a whole bunch of fiddling to achieve a similar featureset

stract has same issue mentioned above where search engines are actually the only time i want data on me to be easily accessible. not being able to search "food near me" is frustrating, and no privacy-centered google alternative i've been happy with has had that feature. im fine with my location and other relevant metadata on me getting used in a search, as long as that metadata is in a black box restricted to me that doesn't create a profile for advertising companies

Would you mind sending it my way? I'd be curious to use it

does kagi spit out location-relevant information? that's something I've really missed on startpage, I like being able to just google "chinese food" and have the restaurants near me spit back out, and if a privacy-centered search engine can return a result comparable to something like google there that'd make me real happy

the ability to run a pokemon game above 20 fps, ideally

I love scarlet and violet, I was quite fond of them, but I really want a pokemon game that doesn't feel like pulling teeth to play

This is a good looking piece of hardware, but i hope they keep the price low. That's the biggest thing that these sorts of systems have going for them is making a desktop ecosystem affordable, and if this is expensive I fear it'll be fighting an uphill battle against the steamdeck bc it seems most steamdeck competitors tout their windows compatability as an upside, and as far as most consumers are concerned that's true

Either way, if this is good (and I can afford it when it hits the market), this might be the handheld pc i pick up. Great looking chassis, good feature suite, hall effect sticks out of the gate, and it helps get me back to tinkering with linux more. Seems like a win all around

the thing is, cyberpunk 2077 released and did gangbusters (after perhaps the rockiest launch cycle in recent memory, but still. game sold well). Deus Ex taps into a lot of the same themes and aesthetics that got cyberpunk 2077 to sell well, it just seems like embracer doesn't see it as a safe bet, and their definition of safe is informed heavily by their recent fuck-up with their sauid acquisition gambit. It's a function of a bunch of executives with eyes bigger than their stomach and then having to ballast every possible IP they can manage in order to not ruin the ~shareholder value~ they're working so hard to not shunt into the atmosphere.

I think the observation that there's more subs than doms, generally speaking, is a salient one and one worth keeping in mind. I honestly wish I had been told that when I was looking actively for a dominant partner because like, yeah you're almost definitely right it's just not something I'd ever really thought about bc it's so much easier to contextualize your own struggle than try to think about the bigger picture

I'm masc presenting and I was worried for a while that women tended to not like submissive men, which was really discouraging for me. I found my current partner though, who does, and that's really changed my perspective. I'm not remarkable in any means (I'm 6' tall but not conventionally attractive, not thin/don't have tremendous muscle. Just kinda average) but my perspective has changed from "women don't like submissive men" to "lots of women do like submissive men, there's just 1) not a ton of them, 2) they don't tend to advertise it the same way men do, and 3) they don't tend to look as intently as submissive men do for dominant partners" -- partially because there's just less dominant women, and partially because I think they find long-term partners that meet those needs and that's it for them

I'm not gonna tell you it's easy, it's not, but I'm a thoroughly unremarkable person that was pretty comfortably in your shoes for a long time and then I lucked out into my partner. The best advice I can give is being a decent person goes a long way towards smoothing over any concerns with dom/sub dynamics, and if that dynamic is important to you it's good to be open to talking about it even if it results in failure. Find spaces where advertising that is beneficial too, join your local kink community -- I've been to a few kink events, namely just sloshes and munches, casual stuff out at a bar. Nothing tremendously freaky, but it's a good place to find women that might be more interested in someone that identifies themselves as a sub. Good luck!!

its one of the use-cases that AI truly makes sense in to me, because it feels like voice assistant technology has really plateau'd, and an LLM seems like a good way to process natural language

holy shit I'm glad I saw this because i thought my screen was going or something, the colors are good but they're just barely different enough to where I thought I was going crazy

Ooh, is there a way to do this with Spotify? I have such a hard time committing to making playlists, getting an ai to start them for me would actually be awesome

Im always curious what draws people to the builds they play so I'm curious what the lemmy GW2 players enjoy :)

Having moved off of reddit mostly I'm finding it hard to keep tabs on what seasonal shows are worth the effort, what shows are y'all planning on watching/most looking forward to? The stuff I'm excited for this year (with the exception of JJK and Mushoku Tensei) all come out later this year so I'm kind of in a holding pattern right now, would love some direction :)

The gw2 subreddit is pretty casual but I'm curious how the kbin tends to enjoy the game, what do y'all do when you play gw2? Open world? PvP? WvW? Strikes? Fractals? Are you part of a regular raid static? Do you do speedclears? I'm curious how y'all tend to play and enjoy guild wars :)

I flip around between communities a lot and being able to just pull out the side drawer quickly to switch would be wonderful, because on taller phones the hamburger menu can be a bit out of the way :)

Hey! I recently made carne asada for my partner -- they haven't had good mexican food like that before, and I spent a number of years in texas and grew up with a mother from texas so tex mex food is very near and dear to my heart, and everything came out great, except the home-made tortillas. They felt more like griddle cakes than the corn tortillas I'm used to, and I don't think i got the ratios wrong on water to masa harina? It's hard to say if it was actually an issue with the ratios, if it was something with the heat of the cook surface (We don't have a griddle yet so I had to use a stainless steel pan, not sure if those get hot enough/retain enough thermal mass), if it was something with the masa harina itself, or what. Do any of you have experience making corn tortillas and have any advice? Or should I just go to the carniceria i got the carne asada from and ask if they make fresh tortillas lmao

When hanging out with friends in discord or whatever, what games do you all tend to sit down and play with one another? For me it's some combination of Valorant, Guild Wars 2, and Omega Strikers but I'm curious what everyone else plays with their friends :)

I'm kind of unhappy with some of the changes but the more I sit on others, the more interested I am with this patch? It's gonna have growing pains for sure but I'm curious how other people feel

I really don't understand what the two are doing differently -- they seem relatively interoperable so what's the difference between the two standards?

Hey all! recent reddit/twitter transplant and I'm trying to figure out how to get the most out of the fediverse and I really don't know? The lack of centralization is amazing, but it's also a bit overwhelming to try to figure out where people congregate and where to talk to people, especially when lemmy/kbin are so small relative to reddit. For those of you that have been here longer than a few days, how do you tend to engage with the fediverse? Any advice/places to hang out/content to recommend? Thanks!
