Hope is two things: wanting a certain outcome and believing it’s possible. Hope can be delusional if its object is impossible, but in no way are all objects of hope universally out of reach. As for hope being brought by despair... well this is plain silly as the definition of despair is literally hopelessness. In that sense I’d argue that hope is actually brought by perceived uncertainty, which sounds pretty boring although it has the merit of being reasonable.

Break it, confirm it's broken, fix it back. Makes me feel better every time.

For discovery, check out https://rateyourmusic.com/! You can rate music and then use automated suggestions, or better yet, go on albums you like and check out profiles of people that made reviews that resonate with you for other stuff they like. It's old-school, based on humans! You can look into charts by genres as well.

Instead of collecting a physical music library, you can consider DRM-free digital as well. You can buy albums in such formats at Bandcamp, Qobuz, 7digital. Of course you can sail the high seas as well once in a while. Personally I'm proud to support artists, but I have much less scruples concerning copyright over music made by musicians that have passed away.

Bits of submersible with dead billionaires? Sand formed by the sudden and thorough crushing of a submersible with dead billionaires? The Logitech F710 aught to be mentioned as well. Of all the things cheap game controllers have suffered, utterly destroyed by deep sea pressure is one.

You bet calling Casablanca "a really good movie" is a hot take. That thing is a fucking work of art, a timeless masterpiece of cinema, a classic in the thruest sense, worthy of posterity beyond humanity itself. A "really good movie" he says.

Aliyev is clearly on the defensive, a little nervous and frankly pathetic imho. The biblical argument of the planet as an all you can eat buffet has long been moot. Furthermore the fact that oil is still used does not mean the transition is not taking place.

I take heart at the petrostates' flailing anger. They're clearly annoyed and making a poor job at clinging to an unjustifiable status quo.

Love the dark autumnal vibes. Music that takes its time.

I never actually played. I just enjoy that artwork 🔥

Young artist with inspired angsty compositions. They have an EP out and I'm hoping they eventually get around to dropping a full album.

This one has a special place for me. The lushness and the other-worldliness is so appeasing.

It’s March 14th! An excellent day to eat pie and do maths. I might brush up on my geometry and try the NASA Pi Day Challenge.
