I think a lot of depression symptoms are literally caused by constantly living indoors and not walking every day. We eat crap and live under unmanageable amounts of constant stress.
I have been taking supplemental vitamin D for about a year and a half. It was prescribed because my levels were so low. I made a bunch of other quality-of-life improvements too, but I think getting enough vit D helped me to keep at it.
I download tutorials instead of trying to learn in between the unskippable add breaks. They have ruined the functionality of the site.

Right. I'm a woman who as been gaming since I was about 7 years old. I have learned several strategies to make sure that I don't draw attention to that fact. It's always better if whoever I'm playing with assumes that I'm a dude.

IRC is not dead. Since rexxit began I have started really searching for programming/data science/tech communities. I have found more than I know what to do with and many have an IRC. I just installed Pidgin on one of my Linix machines. Ha! What a time to be alive.

I deleted RiF a couple of days ago. RiF is reddit to me. I have countless subs and bots blocked. Still, I was scrolling r/all and realized how repulsed I was by the content. It was just page after page of junk. I still have my account, but I haven't logged in for days.
I am mourning the time I have wasted.

I miss the days when I could look in the comments for more information about a post and actually learn or discover something new. The comments are worthless at this point. There is no discussion to be had.
"The troll dance" is an excellent way to explain it. One of my last comments was about a cow that was laying it's head in a woman's lap. It was a nice comment about the cow (which was stated to be female). Out of no where some troll popped up and started the "dId YoU jUsT aSsUmE gEnDeR?!??" line of bait. I flat out said that I was not going to "debate" the gender of a bovine. The entire conversation was so utterly pointless. What has reddit become? Why did I stay so long? Why was I commenting about a cow?
I uninstalled RiF about a month ago. I needed to find some documemtation for an Assembly project so I checked the subreddit sidebar on desktop.
My god. It's just a toxic shithole of bots and perpetual rage posts. I'm so happy to be anywhere else. This place is and the Lemmy instance programming.dev is too. I'm on Tildes and Bluesky because, why not? I'm not hesitant to post or comment at all anymore.
