Could you go into a bit more detail about what specifically doesn’t work? I want to take notes and see what I can do to make it better.

Haha, yes years. As in it started as a micro-story assignment in college. It sat on my google drive for 4 years so I decided to flesh it out. It’s not necessarily something I normally like to write. But for some reason I just can’t stop nudging it, come back to it to edit or add/remove every so often. It’s not a constant 4 years of working on one small short story! That’s nuts lol.

Yeah that would complicate things. Can’t exactly trust kids with secrets. Maybe you don’t have a partner right now but at least you have us here to cheer you up!

Things will eventually get better. It’s cheesy and not always the case for everyone, but it can.

Now if you’re worried about this in the future, start trying to become as self-sufficient as you can. Save up your money and really start learning some skills. Maybe gardening or wood working (or something that actually interests you.)

Definitely learn cooking and laundry if you haven’t already. Sewing is good, too. Even if you only know how to sew buttons back on!

It’s so good, and I really enjoy the improvements like you said. I just got to the 3rd stratum and I’m loving it. Can’t wait to dive into the next two.

It’s always a huge adjustment when coming out to very close loved ones. I mean, even if you don’t exactly consider yourself close to them there is still that unspoken bond you have. And it is incredibly intimidating to think “how will they react? What are they going to think of me? Treat me?”

If you’re not sure about it but trust your siblings, you can try asking them how they feel your parents might react.

Speaking from experience… do not ever let someone force you to come out before you’re ready. Unless it’s 100% your choice to want to do this, ignore anyone who says otherwise. It’s your truth and your feelings. They have no business in it.

I was young, dumb, and fell for the “I don’t want us to be a secret any more” peer pressure. Regardless of your partners feelings, this is your battle to fight.

Just keep going. It’ll work itself out when the time is right. When we that may be.

"Bee-HAWWWWW! BEE-hawww" If you don't click the link/open your app while imitating a donkey, then what are you even doing? <3

I’m one of those writers that has to really be in the mood to write or else it feels forced. So, to limit my distractions or case of “Ugh, okay I’ll just look for 5 more minutes…” which turns into a hour.

I found those really neat program called Ommwriter. Its literally just text. There’s no UI or anything. I think you can customize the background, but I haven’t felt the need to change anything.

I was doing the same and I would only see the few same posts with the occasional new one. After I switched the settings, now I am seeing so much more on Lemmy.

It is mentioned not to unselect the Undetermined option, but this post tells you to make sure BOTH Undetermined and English are selected. Otherwise, it seems to filter content out. I posted only because I noticed a boatload more appear in after doing this and refreshed. 😅

We've been investigating some recurring issues with the user experience on the instance, and have traced it back to the way Lemmy handles language settings.

Here's the TL;DR on how to ensure you see all of the content on this instance:

In your user settings, make sure "Language" is set to both "English" and "Undetermined". You can select additional languages as well, but they aren't currently allowed on this server.

On desktop, you can use CTRL+click to select both options.

This will allow you to see content for which the author has not set a language, and content which has been set to "English".

Hahaha, yeah it was just the way the cheese was shredded made it look like a pile of noodles on top at first! Definitely agree though, you gotta at least have the curds on there!

Agree too. I used to lurk on r/ffxiv so i hope things like that make their own thing on this platform too.

I'm glad we are 100% on the same wavelength on that, RiddleMeWhy.

Honestly, same here up in Canada; the expectation is "they" came to "us" and need to adjust to "our" ways. Scarcely do we take the time to put the effort into doing the same; whether that be in the form of actively trying to understand that culture, gender, or sexuality, etc.

The act of genuinely just acknowledging that there are other people in the room with different and valid viewpoints that, like or unlike, your own do in fact exist! Especially to try to consciously do this before you type your response, and be kind, speaks volumes to the room. It goes unspoken, though, the effort it takes to be civil, even when something upsets you. It just takes a moment to be kind.

Did about 60 pulls. I saved up so long.

No Kazuha, but you can bet my Heizou (which I’ve had since nearly my first month playing) is now C4, and Yaoyao is now C2.

Hello,

As the title says this is a short story that I have been slowly working on for a few years. I've stopped and come back to it many, many times. But I think it's time for it to be shared again or else it won't (and I won't!) get any better.

So, please, I invite you to tear it apart. Any feedback would be welcome. I'm not sure how it works, since I'm still new here, but if you'd prefer to send a DM instead of leaving a comment you may do so!

Edit: Sorry for the formatting. It was too big for a single post or comment so I had to split it into 4 parts. It should all be chained together within the first comment. (Sort comments by Old)

Synopsis:

{This is a standalone piece.}

A mysterious love letter leads a man on a road to self-discovery.
