Quake III but no I or II? I see you've got DOOM on your list, I'm curious, did you not like the first two quake games or just didn't play them? Otherwise you've got my list down pat (plus a few extras).

Not sure how I missed this, but hey better late than never! I'm running 3 hives at the moment - all Italians: a 30'ish frame long langstroth, an 8 frame langstroth, and a 5 frame nuc I started and happy to say has a laying queen as of last week. Assuming they survive the winter, I plan on moving the nuc (maybe splitting, we'll see) over to a Warré hive that I'm working on.

Dang, I figured CO2 emissions would be much better than traditional livestock but I wouldn't have guessed that much better.

With the price of dimensional lumber being so high, it can be difficult building hive bodies for less than you can buy them for commercially. I've considered using 2X lumber in the past, but that would make Langstroth hives very large and heavy. A 5 frame nuc might be doable, but in my opinion too imbalanced once you get too many supers. A Warré hive, however, fits the bill quite nicely! I've built three hive bodies from two 8 foot 2X10 boards and enough half-frames for each out of scrap 2X lumber for less than the cost of one langstroth deep without frames. With a few jigs to help cut and build the frames, really it's not that much more time intensive either in my opinion. Still need to build a cover for it, which I'll likely depart from Warré's designs on that front and stick with a more typical telescoping cover design.

I've been getting into beekeeping so I'm soaking up as much info as I can. Just finished up Honey Bee Democracy by Tom Seeley. Fantastically interesting book regarding honey bee swarm preferences and decision making. Next up is an English translation of Beekeeping for All by Émile Warré, mostly because I want to read his thoughts on his hive style and management practices.

Really great documentary on skep beekeeping from 1978. Maybe not the most exciting thing to watch, but if you're interested in historic beekeeping practices this is a great, thorough documentary as it follows skep beeks and their practices.

To be honest, I don't think that's entirely just a Reddit thing. Power tripping mods have been around as long as Internet forums have in general. It's a tough one to combat for sure.

11 year old account here, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger. So much time spent on niche subs that will be hard to replace, but I suppose that means I should be more active in any similar counterparts on Lemmy to help them grow and flourish.

Wait, hold on. Multiplayer Slay the Spire? Is it like playing against one another or is it cooperative? I haven't played in a while but I have to hear more about this...

North Georgia here. Wife and I have been up to visit friends near Seattle a few times with another trip planned this year. We. Love. It. Being so close to so many proper mountains is just such a breathtaking thing that we don't really have where we are. Don't get me wrong, the Appalachians are nice, but we were just in awe seeing Mount Rainier above the clouds during our first flight in to the area.
