A lot of gears. Like a lot a lot of gears.
They all have different ratios so they can make one full rotation in the time needed to fulfill their job. Moonphase for example turns once every month.

I’m hoping for a couple of watches to come down in size. Really fun take OP 👍🏻
First would be the omega seamaster. I have both an old 39mm wich is almost perfect if not a bit too small for a diver and I have the new 60th anniversary bond wich is 42mm wich is already the limit I can wear. So a 40mm would be the perfect seamaster size
Same goes for the speedmaster. Rolex really figured it out with the Daytona and the 40mm. It’s just perfect for every wrist. So a smaller speedy would be great
Next would be the offshore line from AP. I like them a lot but they are just too big and all their 37mm are either for female audience or very limited edition. Even if they come down to 40 I would be happy.
Next up any grand complication. Doesn’t matter if it’s ALS, VC or Patek. I know they need the space for the mechanics but they are just too large to enjoy for me.
Rolex sky dweller is also on the brink of being too big. It’s not terrible but a smaller version would be nice
JLC Reverso duoface is a bit larger then the original tribute mono face wich I absolutely love. Too big of a case sort of distorts the image of a vintage inspired watch
Ulysse nardin freak. Never owned one and not even tried one on but I could think about it if it wasn’t such a chunky boy
I think that’s all for now but I’m sure there are more that I’m not thinking of right now
Not really a price point but rather everything not quartz and rubber.
It’s somewhat true what the als rep said. But what he didn’t mention was some other interesting parts that come with a purchase from a boutique or AD.
You’ll get invited to events, get presents and you’ll be one of the first to get some high demand or new release watches. You’ll be integrated in a circle full of people who share the same passion with the same taste for some things.
I personally enjoy and value those things a lot. Ap events are awesome and VC is probably the best I’ve ever been to.
Up to you. If you just want one watch from the brand go gray or if you want more then one go ad
Pretty simple 10% rule.
Take 10% of your net annual income for shots and giggles. ( only if you have no debt or running costs ) with that 10% you can do what ever you want.
So let’s say you want to buy that gmt for 11 grand that means that you have to make 110k net annually to comfortably afford this watch.
You will never go broke of this, you will always have a limit of what you can afford and you can plan ahead for future watches that might take a while to be delivered.
I use that rule and it works perfectly. ( although I’m already at my limit for this year 😅) but I know when to stop
Always thought this only applies to either old watches or new complex watches like annual calendars or perpetual and so on
It’s not a question of price but rather of manufacturer. For example a million dollar RM will never ever ever have a finishing as nice as a A.Lange&Söhne 1815 for 25k
Some do it better than others. That’s just the reality. So in terms of finishing I would say it stops at Lange. Vacheron is a close one but from personal experience I’m confident to say that Lange is number 1 at whatever price point.
How do people know of r/watches but not know one of the most popular watches in the world ?
Seriously how ?
Baltic MR01
If the mods were more active they could make a thread for these things. I enjoy seeing people getting a new watch, having actual questions about a watch or try to get a diverse opinion on their collection. I love it when I see a post where people get their first Swiss watch or their first luxury what ever… but then I scroll further and I see the most obvious, obnoxious piece of shit I’ve ever seen. I’m not even sure what these people try to accomplish but to ruin the day of others.
Mods can we finally have a section in this sub where all these “genuine” authenticity requests belong ? It’s getting sad now
I just got all my watches back from the bank safe and set them in just 8 minutes. I have 22 watches with some of them being perpetual and annual calendars. It really is not that big of a deal
You know there are watchwinders for manual watches too ? They are more expensive then regular winders but I’m guessing it’s no problem for someone who’s fingers hurt from the crown
