Hello,

At my aunt house I found this watch that belonged to my grandfather. She doesn't know much about it.

Can you give me more infos about it? Is it valuable? In what year was it produced? What is the model?

Thanks.

Hello, looking for an alternative to the automatic Invicta pro diver, that does not have so much play in the bezel. I have been thinking about the orient mako, but i have always wanted a watch with open caseback, and sadly only OrientStar offers this productline but with 1000 usd pricetag.

Budget max 350 usd,ill would like to not be afraid to use it.🙂

Never had a watch in my life. Before I do a big purchase of thousands of dollars, I want to try something less expensive and see how I like it. I think a stainless chain and "classy" design is what I want. Anything you guys can recommend (or what I should avoid)?

I'm looking to get a watch for my wedding in the 2-3k range. So far I've been eyeing longine flagship moon and small seconds. What would you guys recommend for a watch in this scenario and price?

I'm starting to build a small collection & am interested in views as to when the appropriate time & place would be to wear the following potential parts of a collection:

- Dress watch such as a vintage Omega

- Modern Longines quartz Grande Classique (I know this may not be an obvious addition - but I already have this one)

- Rolex Explorer I

- Chronograph watch such as a Junghans Max Bill or Omega Speedmaster

- Dive watch such as Tudor FXD, Submariner or Omega Seamaster

Is there anything that would be missing from this set

About to pull the trigger on a Dekla type-B flieger -- I know the brand seems highly regarded on watchuseek, but just wonder what the opinions are here. I know they are not one of the original 5, but they are still German, essentially hand made in house (besides the movement), and a lot cheaper.

Also, if anyone is Canadian and can comment on how badly they were hit with UPS feeds and/or duty/taxes it would be great. Seems the only options for shipping are UPS Expedited and UPS Saver.

So I have been into watches for some time and as such, my circle of friends are (sometimes painfully) aware of my interest. Some years ago I was given an obvious fake as a gift from a friend.

She gave it to me as a gift from her soon to be father-in-law who lives in Mexico City. While visiting Mexico, she told her FIL that she had a friend back in the states who was into watches and her FIL claimed to “know a guy” so she brought back a fake and gave it to me as a gift.

I accepted the gift and just kinda sat on it, not really sure what to do. I didn’t want to make her feel bad because her heart was in the right place but I also wasn’t going to actually wear it either.

Time marched on and I have moved away from that friend which makes it easier for me. My question to the community is how would you deal with an obvious fake being given to you as a gift?

On a totally unrelated note, anybody have any suggestions on the best way to dispose of a fake Piaget? 😂

I've got a slim wrist so I'm looking for something with these specs:

Lug to lug under 46mm Thickness 10mm or under Width 38mm or under Quartz is fine Preferably Arabic numerals

Bonus: titanium and/or sapphire crystal

I've actually found one that meets ALL of these specs but I'd like to see more before I pull the trigger.

Those two watches are really cool to me, very pragmatic and they have the matte finish black resin case with white accents which I love.

Can anyone recommend me some watches that I'd enjoy if I like those two?
- ~36mm - 38mm MAX

- Matte black with white accents

- Resin case is fine as long as it's durable and has a matte finish, metal works as well.

- Black nato

- Quartz analog movement

Please and thank you!

Hey all,
I saw this:

https://preview.redd.it/k0s05c5jum3c1.png?width=1108&format=png&auto=webp&s=9fd113dfced8c936b1e0d78f18024acd168ea24a

The only issue I have is that it has mineral glass, do you think that should be a deal breaker for me? It ticks all the other boxes, and its limited edition 1500 worldwide (that makes it pretty unique also).
Whats your thoughts? Are there any other good options of a chrono that is smaller than 40mm that you could suggest?
Thanks!

I recently was looking at Indian microbrands and came across Bangalore Watch Company. I'm interested in purchasing one of their models, but I wanted to see if anyone has had experience purchasing from the US, or Europe. Want to do my due diligence before making a big purchase from a relatively unknown international company.

Hi

So I have read some old list, and some back and forth but nothing really good... so I was thinking maybe we can make a list here of available alarm watches in 2023

The criteria goes as followed

  1. Alarm function
  2. Mechanical
  3. Automatic
  4. New
  5. 4000usd or euro (even though there is a difference)

....

It can be watches from all around the word USA, Switzerland, Japan, Russia, Germany, Chinese... whatever

Hi Reddit, I need some advice on choosing between two smartwatches: the Apple Watch SE (40mm GPS) and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic (42mm GPS). I got both of them on Black Friday, but I can only keep one and return the other. The problem is, I can't decide which one to keep.

I use both Android and iOS devices for testing purposes, so the mobile / OS compatibility is not an issue for me. I also haven't had the chance to test the battery life of either watch, which is very important for me. Here are some pros and cons that I have noticed so far:

Apple Watch SE (40mm GPS)

  • Pros:
    • Butter smooth experience
    • Great integration and connectivity with Apple devices
    • Better design and display (square covers more content)
    • Accurate health tracking
  • Cons:
    • Cannot receive WhatsApp call notification since the app doesn't support it (I use WhatsApp a lot)
    • 2x costlier (180 in Black Friday)
    • Not a fan of square watch, but again it shows more content

Galaxy Watch 4 Classic (42mm GPS)

  • Pros:
    • All the required features work well for 99% of use case
    • I love the rotating bezel
    • Half the price (99 in Black Friday)
  • Cons:
    • UI lags a little
    • Cuts important info a lot of times (due to round design)
    • Integration is not amazing, sometimes get delayed notification
    • Samsung's privacy is a major concern

So, what do you think? Which one should I keep and which one should I return? What was your experience with either of the watches? If you were in my place, what would you have done? Please share your thoughts and opinions.

Thanks!

Is the tissot prx (non power max version) worth it still?

My watch with ETA2824 slows down when not worn, run fast if worn, but why wouldn't it run faster once i wear it again? i mean it stays in the slower position. But if i sync the time and then wear it, it would be faster as expected..

Hi Reddit watch community! I'm considering getting my first chronograph. I'm looking at options that don't have screw down pushers. From those of you that have this type of chronograph, do you ever accidentally engage the pushers? When your wrest flexes backwards? Am I over thinking this? Thank you.

If it doesn’t hold its value at least something that will not depreciate much

Hi everyone, love looking at this sub and admiring all the beautiful watches! Also a part of r/Seiko as I’m a big fan of theirs too!

I was all set on the Seiko 5 SBSA115 field watch, but worried in case it wouldn’t be suitable for a high school or language school teacher.

My main job and income is casual dress code, but was hoping to find some part time work in the aforementioned after we move next year.

What would be suitable? No smartwatches please!

Also, for context, male, 30s, based in Japan!

TLDR: Suitable non smartwatch recommendations for high school or language school teacher in Japan

Been thinking of getting a consumer friendly watch to add for collection. It seems okay-ish about the design and movement they use is ETA F06 for an 80$ brand new watch. But couldn’t find any reviews online about the watch nor the brand. What I’ve been wondering, is Adriatica a legit swiss brand?

I am interested in picking up a Speedmaster reduced. I have found countless articles describing the differences between the reduced and the professional but not much on the differences between the reduced models themselves. Any subject matter experts who can describe the meaningful differences between reduced models? Also, how might an amateur collector tell one reduced model from another?

Hey all. I’ve been in this hobby for a few years now. My wife doesn’t really wear watches but has started to show some interest. She seems really interested in skeleton watches, which isn’t really a taste of mine. With Christmas and her birthday coming up I was thinking of getting her a nice skeletonized watch, $1-$6k. The big problem is most skeleton watches are huge.

She likes this Norqain but it’s probably too big. Her wrists are about as big as mine (about 6.5 inches) and I tend to tap out at 40mm, 48 lug-to-lug.

I found this Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic but she’s not a fan of full metal bracelets. Oh and she doesn’t want leather straps either (she’s a vegetarian). She thinks mesh bracelets and rubber straps look good.

Bulova makes some skeleton watches but they look pretty cheap to me.

Anyone out there have any ideas that tick all these boxes?? 😂 Thanks in advance.

In an Omega Constellation 300hz quartz watch...if the date wheel is broken, how much would it normally cost to repair it?

The wheel is in plastic and I'm not sure if they're still made at all. We're talking about a watch that gives the time super well but in which the date function got stuck in a number due to said wheel being broken and I am trying to evaluate if it's worth acquiring and restoring it mostly because they're quite rare

The seller says this issue with the date wheel is also very common in these watches so wouldn't it also eventually just break again? The watch was created originally as an adaptation of the plain dial constellation quartz models that did not have any other functions besides time telling
