Yeah, that's correct. I didn't really explain well my thoughts on this.

What I meant is the part of the games where money, gearing up, trying to be better than other players if you compete for world first clears, etc, all of this begins only when you reach max level. And yet for that you cannot really "pay to win", the only way is grinding for the best gear.

Leveling up in Final Fantasy XIV is easy. Just play the story and you'll reach max level by the time you finish it.

These items are intended for players who create an alt and who wish to skip most of the stury if they already played it.

Also reaching max level is kind of where the game begins (raids, dungeons, gearing up, etc).

Also 500,000 Gil is pocket change...

For me it will always be Zelda: A Link to the Past. Possibly due to nostalgia more than anything else.

(Also, unrelated but if you liked Chrono Trigger, look into Sea of Stars, an indie game heavily inspired from it. It should release this summer and Yasunori Mitsuda even composed some music tracks for that game!)

Edit : Another game, this one bad, holds a special place in my heart... Final Fantasy Mystic Quest on the SNES as well. The music is great, but the rest, meh. What's special about it is one of my aunt shown me this game when I was a kid and it is what introduced me to the world of Final Fantasy. Unfortunately that aunt died many years ago.

I think I have seen Crosscode before but never really looked into it. Looks like a great game. Currently 70% off and there's a demo on Steam. Will give it a try tonight!

Someone in another post suggested Blossom Tales, I'm 2 hours into the first game (which is $4 CAD on sale on Steam) and while it is an obvious Zelda clone, they made some interesting changes and the game is fun.
