Florida. Because all arrest records and mugshots are pretty much immediately available to the public they get the most stories of dumb criminals in the media

Sorta yeah but most large chains dont really do most of their ordering manually - it's half if not mostly or completely automated based on sales, trends and size.

It's obviously very different in small stores where they expect X amount of product they paid for. But it's super easy for, say, Walmart, to move inventory around based on possible trends.

I'm not saying your wrong but it is kinda noticable when my grocery store started carrying lobster a week after I was looking it up on door dash. After not having it for ~10 years or suddenly having 3 frozen geese a month after taking about it after never having it (~18 years at this house).

I'm not about to spend $130 on a small frozen goose. Or ~$80 on a 1lb lobster. I will, however, spend money on lamb - something I've been purposefully bringing up in gchat a lot recently. Something they stopped selling about a decade ago.

If lamb is suddenly available in the next monthish I'll respond to this comment - but maybe I'm just noticing trends that don't exist.

Cost, yeah I was thinking about that. Lobster is pretty readily available at other locations nearby (ish),. Same can be said for lamb and goose. Same distribution center just dropping it off at a different store.

These are things I can buy with only a little travel it's just now they are immediately available as soon as I talk about it.

Not me specifically - generally where you are and what you're taking about (phone location and general conversation).

I don't think anyone specifically is actually listening to me. I think it's automated marketing gone wild.

I was talking to my friend how much I've been craving lobster 2 days ago. They now have lobster at my grocery store - they haven't had lobster in years. Last winter I was talking about how much I like goose over Turkey for Christmas dinner and suddenly they had frozen goose and they literally never had goose before.

Am I being targeted or am I paying more attention or am I just being paranoid?

If the bots are listening, bring back lamb. I'll buy lamb chops.

sacrifices had to be made when turning the country ~100º counter clockwise to get that sweet inland sea between them and Spain

I had a roof leak about 5 years ago that cause a lot of damage in one of the bedrooms. I fixed the leak but it took a long time to save up to fix the room. Last month I finally had enough money to get it fixed.

On Sunday, tropical storm Hilary caused several roof leaks including over the same bedroom. The ceiling, wall and carpet that I just replaced is destroyed along with a good chunk of ceiling in the garage. I can tear out the drywall in the garage and leave it, but idk how I'm going to afford to fix the roof and the bedroom.

So my week started out with a lot of frustration.

I still think of doing things "Dick hard and retard strong". Offensive sure, but my former roommate used to always use it as 'doing something reckless and not thought out but with full intent full steam ahead regardless of consequences'.

Edit: not even regardless of consequences, consequences were never part of the equation

Nope it's real. She talks about it in interviews. Sounds like she was kinda gung-ho for the lulz

I'm a "they're blocking password sharing and raising the price" pirate

I had a cat that look just like him. She lived 20 years and I was devastated when I had to put her down.

Oh man, I remember 7th Guest that game was so cool - a video game with live action cut scenes! That was the same genre as Rama (1996)

I've always wanted to try Bajoran Hasperat

I've been wanting to get solar for years but my indecisiveness kept me from pulling the trigger.

I finally bought (not leased) solar panels - I just said "yes" to a flashy sales person.

I over paid for sure, but it's still cheaper monthly than I pay for grid electricity. I guess it's a win but I could have saved a lot of money if I shopped around (I've checked since) and actually did anything more than "think about it".

I had a job where I had to use a security card to get in the building just to meet a guard to "verify" it and then go through a metal detector, walk up the stairs to swipe my card again go through another metal detector and get verified by another guard (they could literally see each other) then go across the building through a hallway to meet another guard, swipe and detector, just to get to my desk.

It was the absolute stupidest thing I ever had to do for a job.

You'd think I was dealing with state secrets or something government, nah, just a 3rd party Microsoft call center - I just did customer support for free software for college students.

FWIW that was decade ago so I'm sure it's way more foreign (I'm from California/USA) and way worse in newer more innovative ways

I appreciate opposing/different views as long as everyone is reasonable. That sub wasn't void of trolls but it seemed to be more or less balanced (not to be confused with /r/askaconservative). I still lurk but I refuse to interact on Reddit.

I was watching pro golf coverage on the news and it seems so odd that men and women compete separately - same goes with pro bowling. Just seems weird to me that a game of skill is gendered when you can't even raise an argument that someone might have an advantage because of what's between their legs.

I'm currently on Connect for Lemmy and I mostly like it but it's buggy (new app so I'll be forgiving - but once you search for something you can't back out unless you close the app). Summit is fine but there's no way to see your profile and jerboa doesn't seem to have a way to log in.

I know it's early days but are there any other well rounded apps I should try?

Edit: I'm a dummy, in Jerboa there is a down Caret next to "anonymous" at the top on the slide out menu. That's how you log in
