Ad campaigns, most likely. I always seem to see ads for Samsung phones, but not as often for Sony brand ones. I do agree Sony does a much better job about opening up the bootloader, versus Samsung punishing you for trying to open your own paid for device up.

I'm currently dusting off the old curiosity I left behind in college, and got a dedicated Linux Mint OS set up on a spare laptop, and currently getting caught up on all the years of changes since I last poked around with Linux in my spare time. Helps I now work for a firm that has an actual use for Linux, instead of being told repeatedly that I couldn't get a job if i kept studying it by my old college advisor.

New to federated type content, and I was initially thrown off by the multiple server style, rather than the central system Reddit employs, so this is going to be a learning experience.
