According to the TSA frozen water is allowed past so long as it is totally frozen and not slushy and has no water at the bottom of the container. Basically make sure it's really damn cold before you leave and hope it doesn't melt on you.

Yeah you can do it with any kind of liquid, like soup and shit.

[–] watersnipje@lemmy.blahaj.zone 56 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Please do not freeze your shit and bring it to the airport.

[–] Poggervania@kbin.social 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I freeze my shit so TSA is too distracted about me bringing my frozen water cooler bottle full of water.

[–] PhreakyByNature@feddit.uk 4 points 1 year ago

My body freezes shit in me for 36 hours just before, during and then after the flight.

"I'm sorry TSA officer, it's clearly frozen so I can bring it on the plane"

Shit is supposed to be a solid, just fyi.

[–] Zorque@kbin.social 14 points 1 year ago

I mean, if its too solid it causes problems too.

[–] Faydaikin 2 points 1 year ago

Oh to be young and full of solids again...

Any kind of liquid? Like nitroglycerin?

[–] Damage@feddit.it 8 points 1 year ago

Nitroglycerin freezes at 14°C so it's super convenient

[–] snowe@programming.dev 2 points 1 year ago

you should try! Let us know how it goes.

[–] rockerface@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

if your shit is liquid, you might have bigger problems

She’s technically correct, the best kind of correct.

This is just a reminder that the rules are not intended to be followed or applied evenly. That's why none of the people who enforce the rules actually know any of the rules. The specific rules aren't really relevant to how the system functions. Instead, the concept of rules exists in such systems to justify the arbitrary exercise of power. You could literally show this to a TSA agent and probably half the time it wouldn't matter.

The whole thing was always theater with the bonus perk of getting folks used to fascism.

I don't care about water but the full body scans are dystopian as fuck.

[–] ThatFembyWho@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 1 year ago

You can also take an empty bottle and fill it after passing through security...

I’ve asked the TSA dudes while going through security this exact question and they confirmed that, yes you can take fully frozen water bottles through security.

You can also just read on their website that, as long as it’s fully frozen when you’re at the security screening, you’re fine. https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/items/ice

Fun idea to do on a boring day, but usually it's important to get on the flight. :)

[–] HappyMeatbag 9 points 1 year ago

Creative solution!

[–] beezkneez 6 points 1 year ago

Sweet, then I can pre-boil water the day before, freeze it down and bring it on a plane, so that I have boiling water mid flight.

Why were liquids then be banned in the first place?
