Hey all, the subject is basically the question. Are any of you aware of a mil-sim (or somewhat of a milsim) survival game? I know Arma 3 has some mods, but I just find A3 clunky and hard to manage content for. I am also aware of the chernobyl game, whose name escapes me... but it appears to have trouble running on modern equipment...

So I thought I would throw the question out into the ether to see if any of you may have a recommendation for me to look at.

Thanks!

Check out Stalker Anomaly, that should fit the bill.

Or Stalker Gamma which is a huge modpack on top of anomaly

You're likely thinking about Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl. I played it and a sequel (Call of Pripyat) recently on semi-modern hardware, but YMMV. I loved Stalker back in the day.

I haven't personally tried it, but I've also been watching Chernobylite on Steam with interest. It seems like it may be intended to be a spiritual successor to Stalker. It's been on sale recently, too.

That is what I was thinking of. Based on everyones recommendations, I am going to have to give it a go.

Thank you! We tried GTFO awhile back, and back then the play was pretty terrible. Maybe the passage of time and development hours have eased that somewhat.

There was one called F.E.A.R that fits the bill

Great game that is a horror shooter, but I wouldn't call it a MilSim though. MilSims are usually games like Arma or Squad.

Yeah, it has bullet time mechanics.

Which are totally badass ultimately lol

I'm not sure if this fits what you're asking for, but maybe State of Decay or State of Decay 2?

Stalker: Anomaly is a standalone mod based on Stalker. It’s fiddly to initially set up to your liking with its myriad of sub-mods, but you CAN tailor it exactly to your liking. Once done it’s really fun, good and challenging. Worth an afternoon to dive into it.

Yeah, fiddly modpacks on old games frustrates me to think about. lol. But I am going to give it a go i believe.

DayZ is great now (and stand-alone from Arma). Not exactly mil-sim but a lot of the loot is military.

I was an avid avid player of the mod. The release of the game, never really had that same feel for me that the good ole mod did. But thanks!
