She is consistently very good, and has excellent stage presence.

James Acaster is the correct answer in here - he is hilariously funny and very progressive

"Can you tell us about your flapjack?"

"Started making it. Had a breakdown.

...Bon appetit."

This fockin guy

Fern Brady I find always makes me laugh, it's like she's enjoying herself and just bringing everyone else along for the ride. Even in interviews I just end up really enjoying myself.

Loved her on Taskmaster. "Have I met these potatoes before?!"

Between herself, John Kearns, and Munya, that season was a goldmine for 'comedians I had never heard of before and ended up loving'.

[–] Devi 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I've never watched taskmaster you know? People keep saying I should but there's just so much of it and only so much time in the day.

[–] quinnly@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 years ago

Try Fern's season! You don't have to watch any of the seasons in order, they all exist in a vacuum. And it's all on YouTube! I say give S14 E1 a shot and see how you like it :)

Bill Burr, Eddie Izzard, Diane Morgan, James Acaster, Jimmy O Yang

German: Carolin Kebekus, Kurt KrΓΆmer, Teddy Teclebrhan, Loriot (Rest in peace)

[–] DarthSpot@feddit.de 7 points 2 years ago

Rowan Atkinson. I'm unable to watch Mr Bean or Blackadder with a straight face. Everything he does is comedy gold.

Also the one and only Robin Williams, may he rest in peace. Watched his stand up program and spilled my drink multiple times

[–] StringTheory 7 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Billy Connolly

Rishi Sunak and Keir Starma, to name but two.

[–] ChaoticEntropy@feddit.uk 3 points 2 years ago

All feels like gallows humour.

His story about the rubber ducks is awesome

My personal favourite is Jon Richardson.

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 4 points 2 years ago

Frankie Boyle

[–] Mwallerby@startrek.website 4 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Joe Lycett, Stewart Lee, Philomena Cunk

[–] scott@lem.free.as 8 points 2 years ago

Cunk is a fictional character. Diane Morgan is the comedienne that plays her.

[–] davefischer 2 points 2 years ago

Stewart Lee is better than all other standup combined.

And his evil twin, Romesh Ranganathan

Not stand up. David Sedaris, his life essays, not the short stories.

The Ship Shape, amiright?

Ross Nobel has a surrealist ability beyond all others, delivered in a geordie accent makes it perfect.

I'm going with the niche german option: Jan Philip Zymny. He is a former Poetry Slammer and writes hilarious dadaistic texts. An he can also do that spontaneous together with the audience.

And of course the german comedian Thorsten StrΓ€ter.

You mean Ron β€œTater Salad” White ?

[–] dingus@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 years ago

Joe Pera

Todd Barry

[–] Bongles@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

Kyle Kinane

Jimmy O. Yang.

Jo Koy.

There are others, but these are the most recent I've watched.

[–] 1hitsong@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 years ago

Don Rickles. Some of his stuff is very dated, but he skewers everyone... with love. πŸ™„

[–] sara@lemmy.today 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Patton Oswalt and Michelle Buteau. Kind of an odd pairing considering their comedy is very different, but they both make me regularly wheeze laugh.

[–] Yerbouti@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Kaamelott. You will need to kearn french first, but its totally worth it.

[–] Flaky@iusearchlinux.fyi 2 points 2 years ago

Milton Jones. His style is basically one-liners, but he's amazing at them. If you've ever watched his appearances on Mock the Week you'll know.
