One solution I’ve seen is using a bunch of those USB adapters and a powered multi-USB hub.

@CorrodedCranium@lemmy.fmhy.ml Yup, it's something that's been bothering me for a while. I have more cards than USB reader sticks, so I wanted to just get a hub or dock to read many at once.
@adespoton@lemmy.ca Yeah, it seems I'll have to resort to that due to being much cheaper than getting a proper sd-reader hub, as what cmnybo linked above is way beyond what I can spend.
I found one on amazon that reads 4 cards at once. It's rather expensive, but it supports UHS-II SD cards.
I just use a combo of this sorta stuff, but older:

I've had inbuilt readers, cards, mutlihubs and a few adapters fail and a lot of stuff that is just fussy about who it plays with. I now prefer to have a bargain bin of simple options to mcguyer from.
There are 7-in1's listed on Aamzon that will accept 2xsd & 2xmsd cards but can't expose all of them at the same time, which s a shame.
A little off topic but I also use two docks similar to this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/RSHTECH-Aluminum-Multifunction-External-Tool-Free-Black-Housing/dp/B07WNPG6KP/
They are attached to my raspberry pi and each allows me to have several TB's of spinning rush over 2 hdd's, an sd card plugged in and space for more usb drives or sd cards via the mcguyer method above when needed. Maximize those usb ports :)
I'm surprised how few options there are out there. I tried looking using the keywords "hub"," "dock", and even " duplicator" but couldn't find anything. Hopefully you don't need to resort to getting a USB hub then just using USB adapters

That's a single slot card reader, I need something with more slots for (micro)sd cards, like a single usb stick with 4 slots for microSD cards, mounting all of them at once
The second link had 4 slots, but do you mean 4 slots of the same exact type?
do you mean 4 slots of the same exact type?
Yes. I already have one of those multi-type/universal card readers. That is not what I'm looking for. I need something with several identical slots, either for SD or microSD cards
If you want it for multi write duplication. there are standalone devices like balena etcher pro, or copystars. but not much that acts like mutli pc card mounter
What is your end goal? There are for example raid „cards“ where you can plug in multiple SD cards and have it connect to SATA, like these: https://a.aliexpress.com/_EuUelXX
The term I searched for was "multi SD card reader" this was the first result.
Is there anything similar under 30 dollars?
Unlikely.
A decent single SD card reader is going to be in the $15-20 range. You want 3+ in a single package. So the price will be around 3x Plus the extra component costs needed to put them in the same package. Plus the general per-unit increase of costs for making a niche product.
