First season was incredible! Bummer that the writer's strike ended up killing the second season. From what I remember they started to right the ship in later seasons, but the damage was already done.

At least the first season ends in a satisfying way to where a standalone watch is still worth it!

How did they even mess up the second season that bad? That show had such a good start.

[–] rattenjunge@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

I actually still liked that a lot. The second season was hit or miss. There were some great episodes like that one about the natives backstory.

However it was made too hard to follow and I still don't know exactly what's going on all the time. I'm not the best to follow along with more complicated series, however I still enjoyed the ride.

I think it was just impossible to follow up THE single best season of a show ever created.

Heroes Fantastic first season, after that it was just horrific.

Wayward Pines. Season 1 was amazing. Season 2 systematically removed everyone and everything that made the first season entertaining.

Have you read the books? It’s so weird to me that they had three books worth of material and then crammed them all into one season and made up their own stuff.

[–] orbit 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah it was super weird to me as well. Still working on book two. I'd bet they didn't expect a renewal after season one and wanted to close things up just in case.

[–] yukichigai@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I have not and I really should. The premise is great and for as accelerated as the TV show (apparently) was it was still a pretty entertaining ride.

Still liked season two though despite it all. There was something really intriguing about the setting overall that kept me in.

Season 2 of True Detective was decent, but Season 1 was truly exceptional. They should have concluded the series on that achievement!

The Witcher.

I feel like 'Heroes' is the classic example right? This year I was really let down by season 2 of 'Yellowjackets' after loving the first season.

Yeah they got screwed by the writer's strike. Not saying the strike was a bad thing it just messed up Heroes.

Money Heist. Never has a show died so hard or so fast. It was a thing to see.

I'm afraid of seeing season 2 of Altered Carbon cause the first one was so awesome

[–] Inky@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

I have bad news for you...

[–] coldredlight 2 points 1 year ago

I made it to the second or third episode of season 2 and quit. It's a massive step down in quality in basically every way.

[–] M1nds3nd@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

I really enjoyed the second season. It made some changes that felt slightly heavy handed but also had some amazing scenes that moved me, sometimes uncomfortably so.

MASH got terrible ratings during its first season. The story goes that it only got a second because the CBS president's wife like the show.

[–] art101@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

MASH was an interesting one. It was originally broadcast in the UK without the laugh track and it was so much better.

When it was eventually released on DVD here, there was an option to play it with or without the laugh track.

I was only a youngling when the series finished and I sobbed like a girl when it finished.
