Another "always online" game that forces people to connect to internet while playing single player.

Even though most people do have internet access these days, it is still not a good development when you consider some places have less stable internet than others. And also what happens to the game when the server shuts down.

I'm not a payday person so I have no horse in this race, but this is still such utter horseshit. The more games that continue to do this where it is completely unnecessary, the further away the date is when devs stop doing this bullshit.

but I do believe you will have to have a connection in order to play cause it's made in the Unreal Engine, it's using cross-progression, crossplay, I do believe we need you to be online," said Listo.

this person should be a politician

Nothing. It is literally just word vomit + lying to shut people up about the issue because "it needs to happen."

That's why the politician comment hits. Word vomit + lies is their standard operating procedure.

Well, fuck you and your shitty game then. Wasn't interested in the first place, but this kills any possibility of that ever changing.

Yup. I'm gonna wait for the crack then. Those usually enable offline play for obvious reasons

This game went from a "maybe" to a "never" for me. Great job, Overkill.

Isn't this essentially a four player on-line co-op game anyway? Is there anything to even do in it single player?

[–] bermuda 15 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

...you can play it with bots? That's kind of how any 4 player co-op game works lol. I don't remember Left 4 Dead 2 being online only when I wanted to play by myself. Payday 2 already has a whole community of people who play the game by themselves. In fact I believe you can even disable the bots and do the whole maps solo.

You can play with 3 AI heisters, or you can go in solo.

Source: I spent a lot of time figuring out routing for solo stealth heists back when PD2 was more popular.

So too do far too many other games.

Usually because they want to sell you cosmetics and other junk and the only way to ensure you don't just mod it in for free is to make the game phone home and verify itself constantly.

Whatever, PAYDAY 2 was already going to be the better game at launch, might as well make it the only one worth playing at all.
