Wtf no one said TOM&JERRY??

[–] N00b22@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I used to watch a lot of Boomerang in Latin America, they aired either OG Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry for 1 hour daily

[–] dan1101@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

The background art in the early ones was beautiful.

[–] Alice 1 points 1 month ago

I had a love/hate relationship with that show because I felt so sorry for Tom. Kept watching it though so clearly it did something right.

Reboot

It may not be the answer I gave at the time, but it's the best balance now of "liked it as a kid" and "like it as an adult"

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm terrified of rewatching it and it not living up to my nostalgia.

[–] Kit@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 month ago

A documentary was released on the show last month. During production they were given the original master tapes for the show and have been slowly releasing all of the episodes in glorious 4k for free on YouTube. Check them out - they hold up to nostalgia better than you'd expect.

Alphanumeric!

[–] Kit@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 month ago

Make sure you check out the documentary that was released last month on YouTube! It's called ReBoot Rewind.

90 minutes of Looney Tunes.

[–] Corno@lemm.ee 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Samurai Pizza Cats. My grandma would have tapes of it so whenever I went over to my grandma's house, chances are this show would be playing at some point haha. The episode I remember the most is the one with the dragon.

[–] Hyphlosion@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

I used to love catching this on a TV channel early in the morning before having to go out to the school bus stop.

[–] Alice 2 points 1 month ago

I loved Rocky & Bullwinkle! Before my time but we had so many VHSes.

[–] Truffle@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago

Batfink was a favorite of mine too! First time I've seen it mentioned out in the wild.

Transformers, robotech, thunder cats, M.A.S.K, starcom.

[–] CyberMonkey404@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago

For a shameless toy commercial cartoon, MASK had a pretty slappin intro theme

[–] Twig6843@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago

Johnny Bravo

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 month ago

Imma bend the rules:

Thunderbirds.

[–] OmegaLemmy@discuss.online 2 points 1 month ago
[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Thundercats original series, and the original Dungeons & Dragons.

[–] Alice 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

So many... The earliest cartoon I remember loving was The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. It was incredibly cozy. Then I discovered Cartoon Cartoons, especially Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, and Dexter's Laboratory with their throwback art styles, and got obsessed with those for a while.

Eventually SpongeBob came out and became my personality, because he was basically an annoying kid trying his best to be friends with everyone like I was. (It's played out now, it wasn't back then.)

ETA how did I not mention classic Looney Tunes. Before we had cable I was really into the classics.

[–] kindenough@kbin.earth 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

As a kid in the '70s, all the cartoons on Wednesday afternoons kids matinee...Vicky the Viking, Maya the Bee, Heidi, Remi, Pink Panther & Hong Kong Phooey.

[–] tetris11@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago

Hong Kong Phooey holds a weird place in my brain. Like, I love it, but not for any good reason.

[–] N00b22@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago

Europe I suppose?

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

People have already mentioned SpongeBob, so I will go with Freakazoid and The Tick.

Battle of the Planets

Dinosaucers

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 month ago

Haven’t thought about Harlock for decades, thanks for the reminder! I never saw Dinosaucers but the rest were ace.

[–] RabbitInTheWoodPile@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Between the Lions. There were far too many Dad puns for my little brain to handle. It broke me

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago

For pure nostalgia, the answer would be Franklin.

For the wacky antics it'd definitely be a tie between Ed Edd n' Eddy and Codename Kids Next Door. What other shows can you get a cursed telephone that causes suffering and an elevator made of junk that leads to the moon for EEnE? Or for KND have a whole zoo filled with kids as the exhibits so childless parents can throw peanuts at them while also having an episode where a man who looks like a baby use his cigar to connect to a global satellite web to try and turn everyone else into babies?

I used to be scared of Tintin for some reason, but loved to sit around watching it.

[–] swordgeek@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago

Professor Kitzel.

[–] etchinghillside@reddthat.com 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What happened to Tazmanian Devil?

[–] N00b22@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago

Do you mean Taz Mania or the original Taz shorts (Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies)?
