The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has applied for arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas's leader in Gaza for war crimes.

Karim Khan KC said there were reasonable grounds to believe that both men bore criminal responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity from at least 7 October 2023.

Israeli defence minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas's political leader Ismail Haniyeh, its military chief Mohammed Deif are also wanted for arrest.

The ICC, based in The Hague, has been investigating Israel's actions in the occupied territories for the past three years - and more recently the actions of Hamas as well.

Mr Netanyahu recently called the prospect of senior Israel figures joining the ICC's wanted list "an outrage of historic proportions".

Nice, bundling them together is also a great move. Evil, corrupt fucks, draining their nations, fueling violence.

This is just the latest of a barrage of instances whereupon justice does not compromise at all, regardless of circumstance or side, and moreso upholds the rights of the truly hapless, as well as those who continually campaign for humanity's good, over those who campaign only for themselves and their ill-gotten wealth and power.

Weird question, but what does your username mean?

[–] WamGams@lemmy.ca 8 points 5 months ago (2 children)

To me it appears to be Jew hater or Jew Phifhter 88.

in this case: no, they're just Filipino, and it seems to just be a contraction of Jupiter or something similarly banal. i think it would be prudent in the future to do a bit of double checking before we start accusing people of Nazis; you can easily check your assumption by just visiting their mastodon page, linked in the description of their kbin account.

Thank you for bringing some sanity to the discussion

Are we now accusing others of antisemitism based on nothing more than a few random letters? WTF?

[–] WamGams@lemmy.ca 13 points 5 months ago (1 children)

88 at the end of a screen name is a well known Nazi dog whistle. It means"heil Hitler". The phenomenon has its own page at the southern poverty law center's website.

They're a Filipino. Not exactly an infamous source of antisemitists. And '88' may mean something in the west, but here in Asia it generally means nothing more than your birth year.

"Lock him up. Lock him up. Lock him…" Oh, wait. That's the wrong team. "Try him for war crimes! Try him for war crimes! Try him for war crimes!"
