Trans teenage boys are just as likely to get pregnant as cisgender girls, but sex-ed programs don't speak to them...

An alarming number of trans men think testosterone is sufficient to prevent pregnancy so hopefully this goes a long way to clarifying that particular point.

I admit I was once one of these.

At least it is a start. Hope the amount allocated increases over time.

Biden figured out a while back the method of the slow burn. That's exactly what his admin is doing with Student Debt. Since the big pushes failed thanks to republicans, they have been forgiving debt in very specific areas at a time. 10 million here, 135 million there, 25 million elsewhere, etc.

The republican base can't bother to give much of a shit about 100 million, so the trick is to accomplish the main goal in itty bitty pieces. Pretty soon you can put 2 and 2 together and realizes that a few billion has been allocated.

That's what I see happening here. $700,000 isn't enough for repubs to really bitch about. It's a hilariously small number. But if you do that a few hundred times, that small number becomes a very large number. Thankfully republicans are too stupid and short sighted to rub two braincells (if they have them) together to figure it out.

Holy shit. That's the trick, isn't it? Fox viewers don't understand nuance, so if Republicans can't soundbyte some big Boogeyman number, they can't get their base riled up and it just goes unnoticed. Life by a thousand bandaids.

My God, this is also such a damn good argument for grassroots campaigns. I'm no longer feeling as bleak as I was about the future. Thank you.

I highly recommend doing deep dives into what the Biden admin has been doing. They have gotten very clever.

In particular with the Israeli shit that has been like a foreign policy minefield. Bibi let it slip the other day that the Biden admin has been pushing for a Palestinian state from the start. The problem is that Israel has been giving Biden and company a resounding middle finger every step of the way.

Right after the attack, the Biden admin was trying to get Israel not to go further than bombing. When that didn't work they were pushing for limited boots on the ground stuff. When that didn't work they started pushing for humanitarian pauses and more humanitarian corridors and aid, now the Biden admin is pushing for a 2 state solution which would make Palestine and the PA a legitimate recognized entity and use a multinational force to stand between Israel and Palestine. All the whole, the Biden admin has been saying we stand with Israel and they have our full support, etc etc etc. it's been a tightrope of publicly supporting but privately trying to hold them back.

Say what you will about Biden, but his administration has some pretty slick operators in it.

It's a lot slicker if they actually pull it off. As you mention Netanyahu is just ignoring them altogether.

Some of it has worked. Specifically humanitarian pauses, aid corridors and the like. The problem is that Bibi is gonna lose power without war, so he is unwilling to listen.

Why not trans women?

Edit: Oh, they're targeting teenage pregnancy

It also said trans youth who were assigned female at birth “may be less likely to use condoms when having sex with people who have penises and are at least as likely as cisgender girls to be pregnant.”

Honestly I feel that trans boys and men are underrepresented.

I mean trans people are underrepresented in general but I feel that trans men get the worst of it, ESPECIALLY for medical info.

Good job Biden, don't stop now.

To be fair, we do have the benefit that comes with being invisible. It’s an easier life to fly under the radar than to have to fight for common decency with every waking breath.

That said, male pregnancy is seems taboo even among trans men. Not much out there in terms of resources or shared experience. Not a lot of clinical data out there other than like a case study of a Japanese guy who got pregnant on T and delivered an apparently healthy girl and a trend of postpartum depression.

I am surprised that there’s not a single source for gender neutral pregnancy attire. That’s a gripe I’ve heard a handful of times.

I think that would be a lucrative niche business if any of the etsy crowd were to see this thread.

The grant summary explains that trans boys are “at risk for negative sexual health outcomes yet are effectively excluded from sexual health programs because gender-diverse youth do not experience the cisgender, heteronormative teen sexual education messaging available to them as salient or applicable.”

Good that they are trying to tackle the problem but why not make the whole program more inclusive so the transgender kids feel actually included in the whole thing? Setting up special sex-ed programs just for them still sets them apart from the rest. And even though not all the content will apply to the cisgendered kids it will foster understanding of transsexuality. This is what we do in Europe (except the regimes like Hungary), transsexuality is now a topic of sex-ed.
