Possible to subscribe to lemmy.world communities? (self.support)

I believe I read a while ago that beehaw defederated from lemmy.world. I'm new to the fediverse, so I'm still trying to understand exactly what that means. Is it still possible to subscribe to a lemmy.world community from my beehaw account? There are a couple of iOS Lemmy apps that have their official community on lemmy.world, and I'd really like to be able to subscribe to them.

Liftoff doesn't seem to support kbin instances, that sucks.

I think there aren't any kbin apps yet since it uses a different code base than Lemmy (and is much newer as well). Currently the only kbin app I know of is in development. It's called Artemis, and I see their app status posts from Mastodon show up here every once in a while.
