Ive looked up tons of reviews on preferences and game compatibility. But i want to know how it actually works in day to day life. Was it a device that will be put to the side in a couple weeks?

Steam API makes the game, IMO. More options can only be a good thing, and the trackpad are vastly superior to that.

However, I also recognize this is subjective and that the causal gamer mostly just needs twin stick ABXY. Disappointing though, since as you said trackpads greatly increase the number of genres playable on this style of console.
