It appears Trump is going to be the next president of US. I'm not sure such a thread is needed in the first place, but here goes.

Feeling anxious? Desperate? Got the expected result?

What do you think went wrong? What do you think went right? What do you think the future holds?

EDIT: it's official - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/2024/us/results

Your problem was turnout.

Turnout always is the problem. The anti-Harris propaganda was intended to discourage voters, and it worked. Congrats.

And you wouldnt even hear the call to save Wisconsin for harris. Probably the only state where 3rd party candidates did matter.

No "you" here. I'm a pragmatic voter and anarchist who in the course of a day has gone to an extremely high chance of losing loved ones through state-sponsored murder, political violence, and suicide. So, you'll excuse me if I don't give a fuck about the pretend "moral high-ground" of those claiming to care about genocide while putting their fingers on the scale for "turbo genocide", greater inaccessibility to health care, more monopolies, and more union busting.

100%. Now we have a president who historically hasn't paid small businesses because they can't afford to fight it, promoting actual hate crimes, and all too happy to appoint more Christian Conservatives who loathe, and I mean fucking despise queer people.

People didn't even need to vote for the President to prevent a Republican Senate, but no.

I've already seen suicide posts (with confirmed bodies) in my local groups and there's people here commenting that America needs to kill itself and nothing of value will be lost.

I'm at my wits end with it all. I understand not wanting to vote for Harris, I'm from Oakland. I don't understand not caring that Republicans control Senate, Supreme Court, and presidency. I do not understand not caring that these are politicians who have actively called for violence. I do not understand being amenable to "cleaning up the mess Democrats left us", when we had the power to fix this by voting, and it just wasn't worth it to 20 million, fucking 120 million people.

"But Harris Bad because she's a billionaires president anyway" meanwhile 2016 regulations decimated against corporations who pollute, tax cuts beyond belief and Covid skyrocketing billionaires wealth.

"But Harris genocide" meanwhile Donald "finish the job" Trump's previous administration assassinating starting the whole genocide in the first place

"But Harris no policies" meanwhile Trump campaigning on deporting political protestors supporting Gaza along with minorities regardless of citizenship

"but the DNC needs to learn its lesson". Well, the lesson will be learned from the individuals who have already killed themselves, the individuals who will suffer at the state level without any federal protections, our generations will suffer from education policies out into place from people like Betsy DeVoss, the sister to Blackwater's Erik Prince, and we will be lucky if Americans aren't ripped from their homes for being someone the conservatives don't like.

No one can blame the Harris Campaign for not voting in the local elections, because your ballot is more than just your presidential vote. The sad fact of the matter is that even if every single Democratic vote was a third party instead, the results would be the same. Because people. Didn't. Vote.
