Token German chiming in

You got most of it quite right, except the ending. It's -erle, or really just -le (depending on where you split the word). The suffix is used to change a word to sound smaller, cute, playful and generally less serious. It also has a southern accent/sound to me, but take that with a pinch of salt. Not sure if there is an english comparison. Its similar to another german suffix: -chen

The original picture is obviously super cool, but of course the hand is just a hand. The caption says none of them are leaves, not all are insects.

Yeah, no idea why I felt the need to correct this

True, but then health impacts of normal meat (over-) consumption are a concern too. No idea if perhaps the unnaturally uniform lab meat has less diverse macro and micro nutrients, but then again, nobody knows (I suspect, prove me wrong otherwise). But yea, over all this wasn't my biggest concern anyways so it hardly changes my outlook either way

I'd love to but can't find them in a supermarket near me. I'll keep looking

Well, the last time I checked in they were still relying on fetal bovine serum and cancer cell growth to make lab meat production work (look it up yourself tho). I mean on paper it seems like good option if animal suffering is your concern, but (long term) health impacts of cancer meat are still a mild concern ig. And also it's exorbitantly expensive (citation needed) if you can even buy it and still requires loads of resources to produce. I'd much prefer a cheap alternative, not imitation, for cheap meat. It may be hard to replace a grilled stake (in flavor, texture and most of all people's preference) but looking at cheap pink slices of processed goo I half way expect them to already be vegan, but like in a really bad way. I feel like meat alternatives should start where it's easy and tackle 'authentic' meat a later time. In the meantime I'm way more concerned with ending special meat subsidies in favor of supporting resource efficient vegan alternatives. Make vegan food cheap and people will follow, no need for perfection. For the record I'm not (quite) a vegan and price and convince are like the only things holding me back so far.

Sounds a lot like you're comprehending it already

Is it possible to bring back the random community function again? That was the main appeal of the old infinity for me.

I guess any profanities possibly aimed at spez would at least already be pixelated right? So half as bad..

Yes, I think this technology works best to fill a niche in denser cities, just not to provide for the food needs of a whole city. They would also improve the quality of life in the city.

Honestly, this seems like a solution looking for a problem. We already have a lot of agricultural space available and in use. We just use that space very inefficiently to actually produce food. There are huge benefits to be gained from switching to sustainable farming, and probably a largely vegan diet too (just based on Ressource use alone). Once farming is focused on producing food and preserving nature, instead of creating profit we can look to further improvements. Even hydroponics or mixed use gardens are likely a better next step here. There simply isn't a need to cram our food production onto a wall yet, especially if that requires costly infrastructure made of difficult to recycle materials.

I love to take a small carabiner or two, clipped onto the outside of my pack. They've been surprisingly helpful. I also often bring some ziplock bags in different sizes. They're mostly useful on longer hikes.

Any Europeans here? Decathlon used to suck so badly in the past, but now admittedly most of my gear is from them. I'm not sure I get to call myself ultralight quite yet, but this is certainly the lightest I've ever gone. Missing in the picture is obviously any food, I'll bring ~1 kg along for 10 days in Croatia. The rest I'll buy whenever I'm in town. Also I'll probably add a small bottle later too. I've really enjoyed finding my very own balance of low-weight to reliability to comfort over the past years. Tell me if you think I'm missing anything or have questions. If anyone's interested in weight, an actual breakdown (or the contents of my toiletries and tech pouches) let me know!
