Croatia hiking load out (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

Any Europeans here? Decathlon used to suck so badly in the past, but now admittedly most of my gear is from them. I'm not sure I get to call myself ultralight quite yet, but this is certainly the lightest I've ever gone. Missing in the picture is obviously any food, I'll bring ~1 kg along for 10 days in Croatia. The rest I'll buy whenever I'm in town. Also I'll probably add a small bottle later too. I've really enjoyed finding my very own balance of low-weight to reliability to comfort over the past years. Tell me if you think I'm missing anything or have questions. If anyone's interested in weight, an actual breakdown (or the contents of my toiletries and tech pouches) let me know!

I have a 55 lb possibly McNab dog (so he's not small) and he definitely needs something to keep him warm at night. Any recommendations for ultra light dog sleeping bags and maybe pads? I got a cheap bag on Amazon but it's poly fill and heavy for what it is.

Anybody have first hand experience of using both the original Kumo AND the new fastpack model?

I’m no trail runner but with a UL base weight and regular 25-30 mile days on trail, I’m really intrigued by the new model.

My original Kumo has about 3000 miles on it and I’ve loved the pack but it’s getting beat up and I’m considering the upgrade.

Does the fastpack carry any more comfortably than the original? I wear my original with the straps as tight as I can get them so the vest style seems like it might be right up my alley.

Tent with 'porch"? (self.ultralight)
submitted 1 year ago by Ongar to c/ultralight@lemmy.ml

Does anybody have a reccomendation for a tent that has a fly that can be staked out to make a usable 'porch' area during light, vertical rainfall? On my recent trip I was stuck in my tent for a while during a light - moderate rainfall and I really wanted to open the fly and just watch the storm. The NEMO tent I took would have had rain falling right into the bathtub floor though. I think that Sierra designs made something like what I'm imagining in the past, however they no longer sell them anymore.

I hiked up to emerald lake in the Trinity Alps, CA over 4 days. Great views and saw some really awesome wildlife. The Kakwa is my first real 'Ultralight' pack and it weighed in at ~20lbs fully packed with food and water. I felt like it carried great, and was super comfortable for the whole trip. I have a few gripes with the pack though: the front pocket could be longer, and stretchier IMO, the right water bottle pocket didn't securely hold my nalgene, and the pack isn't seam sealed at all. It seems like a bummer to have a pack made out of waterproof material and have no seam sealing at all. I used a pack liner and all my down gear stayed dry through the rain but water definitely came through the seams. I'm thinking of trying to seam seal the pack myself but I'm not sure how to go about it. Does anyone have tips on products and application?

Not much going on here so I'll start of a thread. Any new equipment or adventures going on?
