An excellent read, and I was glad to hear that the community had been smart and saved/invested profits from the crab harvest during the bountiful years. Hopefully they're able to pivot their economy to be more diverse and secure.
I love the flavor of cucumbers, but for overall versatility, I'd have to be a zucchini. Sauteed, roasted, baked into bread, zucchini just has more body and is actually filling.
I've kept RIF, but set an app usage time limit of 0 minutes. So it's still there, but permanently greyed out, like a memorial to what once was.
Man I wish, sounds like a dream job nowadays
It used to be popular among European landowners to have a garden hermit as part of the landscaping decor.
For me, it's good chocolate. Miss me with that Hershey's, I'd rather spend a bit more and get a bar that actually tastes like chocolate. That and I feel better supporting brands with fair trade and sustainable certifications.
Heck yeah, I've always imagined being able to buy a ranch and put down houses for my family and friends who'd like to join. Grow a bunch of food, have game nights, and just generally relax and enjoy life.
Yes, I agree! I'm pretty happy that as I'm starting to make more money, I have enough to spare to give back to organizations like Wikipedia.
For me I've always loved flying, and have wanted to get my pilots license since I was a little kid. So the first thing I'd buy would be a little Cessna, and then I'd take my time and do a "road trip" to see the whole country by air.
I love to garden, and when a few years ago I moved from a cool humid climate to the drier hotter inland southern California, it was quite the learning curve. I found Greg Alder's Yard Posts, a small blog of a guy who loves to garden and lives in nearly the same climate. His tips on pruning, pest management, and what to plant when were so helpful.
Honestly I think it's good where they left it. No spoilers, but it's a satisfying arc for who ends up on top, and I feel like that last evening with the siblings and then the board meeting the next day was the perfect encapsulation of their whole relationship.
I wouldn't consider myself a generally superstitious person, but there's a couple things I hold true to.
I always "knock on wood" to avoid jinxing myself when I've just said something that could go wrong. I also toss a pinch over my left shoulder whenever I spill or pour too much salt.
