Paradox posted this the other day: https://www.paradoxinteractive.com/games/cities-skylines-ii/news/traffic-breach-statement

I think it's just called "Traffic"? It's still early days for CS2 mods, not that weird for a mod to have such a generic name.

it's the new gaming king! Still riding high on my 5800X3D personally, that was a GOAT purchase. I know the AM5 counterparts are beating it out on all the charts, but videos like this highlight how it is still better than the majority of CPUs when it comes to gaming performance.

like what was the tech that caused such a leap? They talk about how they switched up the x3D cache configuration - it used to be stacked above the main part of the chip with some sort of insulation in between, but they found a way to remove the insulation and put the 3D cache on the underside of the chip. I'm no expert and i watched the video yesterday, so sorry if that explanation isn't clear. Effectively, they found a way to bring the 3D cache "closer" to the cores, which shortens the time it takes for the cores to communicate with the cache.

qualified due to autism? You have not explicitly said your reasons for seeking MAID, and whatever they are, I'm sure that you know what you are doing. I just want you to know that I believe autistic people are one of greatest natural gifts that the world has given us. Y'all have a gift to see the world in a refreshingly-different way from everyone else, and there are many autistic folks in my life that I love dearly. Many of them have survived some very dark phases in their lives, where everything seemed hopeless, and yet today they are the happiest people I know.

Whatever you end up doing, I just want you to know that I believe your existence is a treasure to this world, and many others do as well. But I don't know anything about the rest of your situation, and I respect whatever you decide to with your own life.

Ugh i had no clue and this makes me so sad to hear, you are such a cornerstone for this community bee sob emoji I can't speak to all of the ways that you have "served" over the years, but your service here has not gone unnoticed. I don't pray, but i'm holding you in my thoughts today ❤

This sort of thing is actually terrifying for Democrats. A lot of the people that voted yes for this also voted for Trump. Clearly, for some reason, Americans are starting to believe that Dems aren't the only party that will guarantee abortion access. This was one of the Dems' most reliably popular platform positions in recent elections.

Thanks for assuming you know everything about me and what I am about. I voted for Harris. But unlike you, I respect the decision of people who didn't, because genocide is a pretty fucking fair red line to draw. If both sides are advocating genocide, I can respect that someone might feel like the entire American project is failed and fascism will be essentially the same. I am not trans, but I have talked to trans people in my life who were extremely committed to withholding their vote until like, this week. They knew they were potentially sacrificing their own rights, but voting for self-preservation felt selfish when entire cities are being wiped out by Israel. Ultimately, everyone I personally know in that camp decided to hold their nose and vote for Harris.

But go on assuming things about your allies and sowing division, I guess. It won't help anything, but whatever makes you feel better about Trump winning.

you just have zero empathy for people with busier lives than you? what about people that work a full-time job while caretaking for an ill parent and maybe also raising kids? people that can barely find time to sleep? it was Harris's job to find a way to reach those people, and convince them to make time to vote. she didn't.

TL;DW:

  • Many enhanced games are getting raytracing when they were using simpler lighting solutions previously
  • A surprising handful of games are getting 8K modes, though the 8K usually turns off other enhancements like raytracing. They mentioned GT7 and F1 2024 as two examples.
  • Most enhanced games are focusing on creating a "Performance Pro" mode, which more-or-less gives you the previous quality mode, but at 60fps. Some devs are planning on adding a "Quality Pro" mode that turns on even more features at the cost of FPS.
  • Most enhanced games are using PSSR to upscale from 1080-1440p to 4K.
  • PSSR seems to be better than FSR, but still a little worse than DLSS. Oliver noted a few cases of image breakup and ghosting around the edges.
  • Horizon: FW is not using PSSR, but somehow it seems to be the best-looking of all the enhanced games (in Oliver's opinion).
  • FF7R is dramatically improved image quality wise - previously, performance mode was real fuzzy.
  • Dragon's Dogma 2 is getting about ~50 FPS in the troublesome city scenes, but this is with RTGI turned on so that's pretty impressive.

[alt text: a painting of a person's head in profile. The head has a slight cutaway, to reveal that the person has a dragon-gremlin sort of creature living inside of their head. There is text labeling the person as "Me" and labeling the creature as "The thing that makes me post weird shit online".]

[alt text: a 4-panel comic by @introvertdoodles, which is titled "Not 'Appropriate'". The first panel depicts a child wearing a very creative and unique outfit, and their parent is pointing at them and saying, "You can't wear that to church." The child is replying, "Why? All my bits are covered." In the second panel, the same child and a grandparent are eating dinner at a dining room table, and the grandparent is saying, "You aren't excused until you eat everything on your plate." The child is replying, "Why? I'm full." In the third panel, the same child is holding a stuff animal, and a different parent is telling them, "You're too old to be carrying that toy around." The child is replying, "Why? The tag just says 'ages 3 plus.'" In the fourth and final panel, the same child is sitting across from a school principal in the principal's office. The principal is saying, "You can't argue with the teacher." The child is replying, "Why? He was wrong."]

[a three-panel comic by Tom Gauld for New Scientist. The top border of the comic shows a two-dimensional, side view pattern of different cars lined up in traffic. The first panel panel shows two people talking. Person A is holding a book and saying, "It's hard to get excited about these new electric vehicles when I've seen much more ambitious possibilities in fiction." Person B is replying, "Sci-fi fan, huh?". In the second panel, Person A is looking at their book and going, "uhhh...yeah. Sci-fi." The third and final panel reveals that Person A is reading a book from the Busytown series, and it depicts a mouse driving a pickle-shaped car, a worm driving an apple-shaped car, and a pig driving a hotdog-shaped car.]

The photo has been edited so that the chef's head is replaced by the head of a shrimp, and the chef's arms have each been replaced with the tail of a shrimp. There is a snapchat-style caption on the photo that says, "dude no fucking way".]

[alt text: a post on twitter by @Ranting_Trans, posted in June 2022. The text in the post says: "People only ask 'what is a woman' and not 'what is a man', because that question was already answered by the greatest philosopher of our time: Dracula". Below the text is a screenshot from the game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, which shows Dracula saying, "What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets."]
