what a cool article and website

Yeah, it does dry if I set it out for too long ๐Ÿ™‚ but I use it enough that it isn't an issue.

Ooh. I've heard about the ranga pens! They look gorgeous to me!

[โ€“] jursed 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah I get that, and I can agree in some way. But, it's all a matter of taste at the end! Thank goodness for all these different generic systems. ๐Ÿ˜

I mean, fate still has a little bit of that bell curve. But I'd say I have to agree with you on there! It makes it so the roleplay has a little bit more probable that the result makes sense, if that makes sense.

I've always wanted to try FATE, but I've been a bit scared off by the metacurrency. Well, I'm "trying" it in a solo RPG, and it seems fun so far! But my worry is that the results feel a bit madlibbed on my part... I'm now curious, what do you like more about that system? I haven't managed to make an opinion yet, but I do think its very fascinating in it's simplicity!

Perhaps! Though something like that would require a lot of moderation to make sure that users are trustworthy and not just farming addresses or PO boxes. Like, a verification system of some sort... I'm not sure where to even start with that! Does Lemmy even have flairs?

But it would be cool to have a place to discuss penpal-ing and other related stuff like wax seals or envelopes!

Hello! I'm excited to see there's a new community for GURPS. Currently, I'm running a survival horror mundane-fantasy game stuck in a modern day British town in which the characters have to survive their daily lives. It's my first time GMing and its been fun so far!

My favorite part of GURPS is how simple or complex it can be. I like it's flexibility. I've been using the GURPS lite edition but the fact that I can add or remove rules based on my needs is wonderful! I also like the simulation aspect of it as well, because it lends nicely to a more gritty, realistic and dangerous feeling.

How about you? Why do you use GURPS?

My very first ink I brought was this. The noodlers polar green ink. It feathered like nothing else even on good paper sometimes... But the color is still gorgeous to me. But as it stands I'm unable to use it

I've been using this pen for a while, not sure how long with the hero 234 ink. It's perfect. The nib and the pen itself still has the old moonman branding.

Do you have a workhouse pen?

[โ€“] jursed 2 points 2 years ago

Its good but heavy! It was my second fountain pen ever and ive used it til now!

Thanks for putting this together!!! This is awesome! ๐Ÿ˜Š

I feel what you're thinking of is "theater of the mind" in which games are run without a map or a grid. Its how I run my gurps game even though there's options for grids. I think a rules lite rpg like FATE would work better but even with regular DnD (I'm not familiar with pathfinder but I'm assuming its along the same lines) as long as everyone can keep in mind where everything is, it could work out perhaps.

authors do get money from libraries that buy the books. and in some places they even get money depending on how much its checked out.

Ive used /r/penpals before with good results, as well as swapbot. Would highly recommend a po box.

Clicked on it and the first thing I saw is "women's bodies were meant for the male gaze"

I'm not a fan of lemmygrad at all but yeah thats wild lol

I keep all of what happened in one journal, and everything else on the computer. All the maps, the schedules, and the character sheets using a gurps character sheet program (forgot what its called), because I run it through discord using a text format. I hardly plan anything besides what's in my head.

Ive been trying to use different ways to plan besides just pure vibes. like using joplin, or some wiki format or even trying to do use a mindmap? But alas most of what I do is simulating what I believe would happen and keeping character sheets of possible enemies on hand.

So, I'm curious, what do you do?
