Between this and treads having activity pub integration, it is infinitely upsetting to me that the only company that seems to be interested in open tech is fucking meta...
flop
I strive for the confidence of the park ranger, in this, shorts, a nice breathable polo shirt, doubled white socks and sunscreen still visible. All while being the chillest guy you know. It is not in the hat itself, but there is power in your ability to wear it.
Yeah I don't fully understand either. I think the point that folks were making was about port forwarding allowing for much better speeds? I don't have Mullvad, but I know with my vpn my speeds are crippled when torrenting on it, so maybe others have similar issues with Mullvad without port forwarding.
I remember drama because mullvad blocked port forwarding and it messed up a lot of folks torrenting. Does anyone know if Mozilla allow port forwarding?
Does youtube even work with NoScript? I just assumed that google has 50 different scrips running that break the site if they aren't allowed
PeerTube is a thing, though it seriously lacks content. It uses WebTorrent, so similar to how more popular torrents end up being faster rather than more taxed, wider use could lead to better stream stability. It's hard to compete with literally the largest video platform in the world, but there is a world were the tech could give a solid alternative community similar to mastodon or lemmy.
I don't really know how much youtube ad-sense really pays out. It seems like for a lot of mid tier content the value is in driving folks to patreon. Even for the big channels the real money is in merch and other monetization methods. The problem is there is just such a smaller audience on peertube it's doesn't give the reach to find an audience worth monetizing.
Anyone know how this would effect things like yt-dlp or streaming with vlc? Might have just stop using my browser for youtube?
I'd imagine so
