I had the same desires and switched to Jellyfin. It definitely has its idiosyncracies but I don't regret the switch.

Dark Souls 3. Got it half price during a recent steam sale. And thank god for that because normal price for the base game + dlcs is still like 90$

Who would enforce the policy? No way that any instance could have the legal power to compete with meta.

Not federating with them is the only sane choice

 

Has anyone thought of a way to group communities by topic, ala multireddits? The only way I can think of now is with multiple accounts, which seems inelegant.
