Lady in the striped shorts and teeny tiny bolero that doesn't at all cover my boobs & necking a beer.

It has always filled me with a kind of dread & nausea when I hear of the internet mob savaging a person, no matter my view of whatever has people riled up into full attack mode.

Determined to follow Bubba's example of having great love & forgiveness for everyone, even as am a sobbing, mess at this story and yet again devastated at the knowledge of all the dangerous vitriol out in the world. I wish so much that persecutors could glimpse a moment of what it is to love & be relieved of their hatreds.

Just here hoping you live in a village called Spankslugs.

Does not sound fun. Hope you're well recovered from that now.

Tend to be underweight, and should probably be eating more rather than less, but oh well. Wonky signals all round!

Makes one nervous that this will be yet another scandal in which postmasters & postmistresses end up under attack...

[–] apis 2 points 7 months ago

Mm, they went up a bit ago to $2.74, the scandal.

If true, one can conclude I ought to drink more, being able to hold on for at least 48hrs, or that I have some glitch which aids bladder control.

Do not recommend, for general comfort or urinary health, but wetting the bed is a distant concern.

When things are that bad, attending to the urge to pee combined with a strong addiction to tobacco are probably the main things.

As one can postpone the former for several hours and the latter indefinitely, end up coaxing myself to get moving on one with the promise of the other.

Then the cigarette makes me feel much thirstier, so this motivates me to make a cup of tea. Besides, at that point am already up and half way to the kitchen, so it seems less daunting.

Getting low on tobacco is usually a good way to shove myself out of the house, and that means a good wash. Running out completely can be disastrous unless already showered & dressed, however with rollups can usually scramble together a final cigarette from unburnt tobacco in old butts & use thin notepaper if out of rolling papers.

Isn't ideal, but is what it is & whether this stuff gets me to the kitchen or out to the shops, other bits & pieces flow from there which might not otherwise.

In general, pushing myself to perform good habits before things get close to bad seems best - sleep, hydration, nutrition, personal hygiene, exercise, housework, etc., but as they all seem to evaporate as possibilities in the blink of an eye, am unsure that they actually stave off much.

Outside of the US, soccer fixtures are the biggest sporting events (certainly in Europe & Russia).

Due to a long history of violent football hooliganism, there is already elevated security around these events & international intelligence coordination preceding them.

Additionally, it is usually very difficult to obtain tickets unless you have connections to a club.

These factors would make them trickier targets than lesser sporting events or concerts.

Differences in transport access to sporting stadia & theatres in different countries may also play a role. Terrorists naturally take logistics into account.

And maybe the US just picks up more chatter about sporting events & not much about theatres?

But yeah, broadly either type of target is possible anywhere.

Meant less that he'd fully painted over elements, and more his revisions regarding the hand closest to us, his head, the back of the shoulder, the farthest breast. Also the arm farthest from us likely wasn't visible in fact, but there's a tension with it being unseen, similar to when an artist elects to not use foreshortening. I like that he's grappled with resolving these questions and hasn't hidden the struggle from us.
