Seeing human rights being brushed off as just an opinion is brutal, I hate remembering that there are people out there that are so full of hate. But! I have seen nothing but people pushing back against that kind of thinking as well as moderation and comment removals when things get to be too much or unproductive. I think while this is a safe space, it's not a sanitised space in that there will occasionally be some people asking questions in good faith and unfortunately a few in bad faith. To me, it's worth having a little bit of flexibility for people to ask questions in good faith so they might be positively influenced. Trouble makers will get removed or leave on their own (like the user linked in your post) over time.

Thats not to say i think you should be subjected to comments that make you uncomfortable its just that unfortunately I don't think it's possible to have a online community that will meet everyone's standards of safe πŸ˜•

I see a thread of people shitting on an asshole calling human rights an opinion? It looks like he has 2/3 upvotes but if there was a downvote button i guarantee their comments would be in the negatives. It doesn't look like a debate to me but people telling someone that it's not a debate and if they think it is one they can go elsewhere. I guess the whole conversation could be removed but i think having one so full of support for transrights being human rights is good for other readers to see. If they agree with the asshole, they'll know their "opinions" aren't welcomed or supported here.

β€œThrough this research, kids told us that it was important for Furby to be their ultimate best friend – a furry companion to do all the things a BFF would do, like dance to music, share fortunes, meditate, mimic each other in silly voices, and even put on a light show, and that’s exactly what we created.”

I love picturing small children setting up elaborate light shows for their best friends

That's a really rough spot to be in πŸ˜• I hope you can find a sense of community and can pass your drivers course quickly.

Ooof that's valid. Do you have a local community garden or theatre group? There will be supportive people hiding out in your community somewhere and I feel like those two things attract some fun, kind people.

While the results are obvious to most people, it's important to do these sorts of studies and articles so people have somewhere to point when developers are pushing for more car centric infrastructure.

I live rurally now but I lived in a big city when I was younger and yeah I felt like a cog in a machine in the best way? It felt much more communal than my small community now so I think I've really been chasing that feeling. I think when we are physically more isolated it becomes easier to mentally isolate, especially when a lot of people are having to commute for work and coming home too exhausted for socialising. I really want a more robust public transport system as I think it encourages a connection between regular riders.

I really like where this is going. Can't wait to see it all finished!

I really love the peachy orange colour. It's my favourite colour of flower 😍

Nah that sounds great! It would only be spammy if you were making us buy a pdf or sign up to an email list. Sharing pictures with helpful tips here is exactly what I want to see.

I actually really like this idea. I feel like it should also have a time expiry of some sort but I overall I think it's a good balance of protections for smaller creators and a limit to excessive greed. If it's truly a revolutionary idea, it will make back the development costs quickly and the information will be available to other creators to build on.

This is probably my favourite outfit at the moment. I do have a lady bug caplet in the works but I haven't come across the perfect lining yet.

Self drafted the dungarees based on a vintage Busybodies pattern I found at the dump for some shorts. Added pockets, a bib, ruffles, straps, adjusted sizing, changed the waistband and essentially just looked at the front of the envelope for inspiration on the shorts shape.

For the blouse, I altered the milkmaid dress pattern from Lydia Naomi, adjusting fit and changing it from a side zipper to a back corset closure with inbuilt back pannel.

All the fabrics and notions are 2nd hand. The lace, strawberry fabric, blouse lining, dungaree lining and gingham fabric are from the dump. The eyelets for the corset and ribbon are from a garage sale and the ladybug denim was gifted to me by my best friend who found it at a charity shop.

I would love to see a Community Betterment group where we can post about ways we are trying to better our own communities through things like volunteering, action, or clubs and share how people are going about either organising or participating in things like tree plantings, toy libraries, tool libraries, community workshops, community gardens, pushing for cycleways and better public transport and just generally making their corners of the world a little better. I think even though every area will have it's own legal system and regulations to navigate, hearing how people are putting together their proposals and grant applications, swapping tips on how projects are managed, fun ways of attracting new community members, and general do-goodery will encourage others to give it a go.

Even if it's just growing a little bit extra in the garden for the local food bank, picking up rubbish on the side of the road, or just making an effort to use the bus, having a supportive community encouraging you makes those little choices a bit easier. Maybe you've always wanted to do a little bit more for your community but don't know where to start. Maybe you already do some of these things and want to help others get started. Maybe you're just really proud of how something is done in your community. We might not be able to solve all the problems but we can at least try to make a few small things a little bit nicer.

It would just be so nice to build up a little slice of the Beehaw hive with some real honest community goodness. Put any naturally competitive nature you might have to best use, out shine us all by making the happiest corner of the world!

I've been wanting to get a proper microscope so I can do my own spore examinations to identify local fungi but it's been out of budget. This looks like a much more affordable option so now off to find some plexiglass and laser pointers at the dump.

My partner and I made this wee tunnel house out of dumped hothouse plastic, old vineyard netting, polypipe we found in the forest, and old fence posts. We had to buy some timber for the framing and zip ties to hold the materials together but we got to make use of so many dumped materials.

It's built to hold all my seedtrays, cuttings, seedlings, and saplings for my garden. I still need to build some shelves inside to help organise the space, tidy up thr edges, and add a door but I'm happy with it for now.

Ignore the pile of logs, they are going in the alleyway to the left and behind the tunnel house as mushroom logs.

Sorry I don't want to come off as spammy but I also want us to have lots of fun content so more people feel encouraged to share πŸ₯° I could look at garden and crafty posts all day.

I wanted to give this coat a slouchy old plushtoy feel so i undersised the lining and edged it in a blanket stitch. I'm really happy with it and I wear it all the time

****noooo the cursed horizontal formatting is back! The pictures are vertical in my phone. I resaved them and double checked

**** okay i resaved them all with a 3rd party app. This is the way. Someone pleSe fix how jerboa reads photo orientation.

I've been saving the scraps from everything I make and have finally gotten around to sorting and quilting them up. I think I'm going to make a dress but I might have to make bellbottoms and a bomber jacket. I'm undecided. I have some time to think on it as I have a heap of scraps to sew

Like any good garden it's all still a work in progress but I've had the central herb bed a few years now and I've been working on establishing some wind breaks and hedges before planting out the rest of the beds with more sensitive herbs and dye plants.

**idk why the pictures aren't showing up? I lowered the res and they show up as loaded on preview?

Not sure why the image is displaying sideways in preview? This is my first post so still figuring it all out. *I've tried adding it to the body of this post to see if that works better. Just testing things. Please ignore **okay so for anyone else encountering that issue, it reads photos taken as vertical photos as horizontal unless that photo is resaved as a whole new image.

I've been trying to maximise what I grow in my garden so I've inoculated ny berry patch beds with winecap mushrooms. They seem to like similar acidity levels and do well together so I put a mix of straw and wood chip mulch down with some spawn the start of last spring. My berries did great, the soil has never looked better, and I got a tasty bonus crop.

I've got a big pile of logs to inoculate with a couple other varties this winter and more garden beds to build in the veggie patch. I love looking at what everyone else is growing in their gardens so I'm looking forward to seeing this wee community grow 🌱
