Sadly SpaceX has some big government contracts, and I don't see that stopping anytime soon

Can I get your MemeCop badge number?

While I don't think OP is acting in good faith here, the top post is just transphobia.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out she is a TERF. She is already an out of touch rich person.

Oh, mind you I agree, no gods no kings. I just meant I'll have to look into the Canadian system to see how much power they have. Like personal research, not "Hmm, wonder if it is good." Sorry if that wasn't clear, that was before coffee

Thanks for the info. I had read the Nicky Case summary previously but not the Jason Quinn one. I'll check it out after work today, but from how I read it Nicky's conclusion is we need to try thing is real world scenarios. Honestly I am down for any alternatives, and agree that approval would be better than RCV. I think there is a situation where you can pass some kind of election reform like RCV, see if it works, then either vote for a new method or keep it based on the real world info. Well, I see that situation as previously possible. I'm really not sure what the next 4 years will bring, but I do know what they've said they want to do, so...

Huh, I always thought the monarchy was a figurehead role in Canada's government. Seems to me that should be an elected position, not one granted by birth, but that is just my first gut response. I'll for sure have to look more into it, thanks for the answer.

That is disappointing. At least some places are wins.

I haven't looked too deep into all the options, but from my view they all have advantages and disadvantages. At the very least RCV is better than what most places in the US. Riding the wave of popularity might be the only way to get things changed too.

I will disclose I am a Monarchist

I am honestly kind of flabbergasted by that declaration. If you don't mind me asking (seriously tell me no if you don't want to open the discussion), in what way? Like do you believe that monarchy is the best form of government or believe in hereditary rule? Sorry if that is a really basic question, but I have never encountered someone declaring themselves a monarchist.

Nice! I hope RCV continues to spread

It has been so great to see how horrible Vance is as a VP pick. I would hazard a guess that nobody else would say yes to Trump after he was willing to sacrifice Pence.

We went camping for the first time since getting the twin pomskis. They did so good! The fluffier pomski (Bliss) and the little havapoo (Poppy) were in a heated competition for who could bring home more of the forest floor.

I am very excited for the 1.0 release! My friends and I are currently playing a multiplayer game in Update 8, and we are so close to finishing all the space elevator parts for the first time.

Maker Community (self.support)

I don't know if there is enough interest, but is it possible to get a maker community created? Some things like 3d printing don't always quite fit into DIY or Creative.

Ford and GM are probably regretting that switch to NACS...

We finished the last piece of the cat path I posted about earlier! This one goes from the laundry room, to the stairwell, and then into the guest bedroom on the upper floor (yes, I know the carpet needs replaced in that closet). They are already using them and seem to love the new path already.

My partner and I have been talking about making some cat paths in our house since long before we owned our house. We recently got 2 new dogs, so now it is a high priority project. The first step was putting up some shelves in the hallway and making a portal from the hallway to the bedroom closet (you can see it just above the tent). The surround for the portal is this 3D printed tunnel

The next project is going to be putting a portal from the spare bedroom into the stairwell so they can go up and down floors without the dogs being in the way

I am stripping and re-sealing a corner shower stall, and am having a hell of time removing all the old caulk. I also discovered the previous homeowners decided to just caulk over the previous caulk that was on there, so I am removing 2 or 3 layers depending on the location. It was leaking in the spots that had 3 layers so I think they just added more caulk to "fix" leaks. I have the chemical caulk remover, and that certainly helps, but it still is taking a metric fuck-ton of manual labor. Any tricks/suggestions for removal of very old caulk? I am about to throw a scotch brite on a palm sander and go to town.
