What a hot garbage take. We've gone from "climate change isnt real" to "dont worry, it will be just like fallout, so much fun!". About what i would expect from nyt after the recent gaza memo.

Tesseract unfortunately doesn't really support cursive. This should work for cursive but might be a bit more difficult to set up. There is also the google cloud vision api which seems to handle cursive quite well but it isn't exactly foss.

I've always used Tesseract to get text from scanned documents. It might work for you if you don't write in cursive.

You migh be interested in ReVanced which is essentially a continuation of the old Vanced project.

I can personally recommend learning to work with some kind of modal editor, whether that is vim or one of the more modern alternatives like neovim or helix.
