There's always a learning curve going from one thing to another. Like you said, going from Android to iOS, learning the UI and where things are placed may take some time to get used to at first. I went from Android to an iPhone 12 a couple years ago, and it took some time to learn. Same goes for switching from iOS to Android. That being said, it doesn't mean the UI is confusing.

I will agree it's limiting, but it isn't anywhere close to confusing. The one thing I will say is that some app settings are tucked away in the iOS settings app, which I would prefer them to be in the actual app.

Beyond that, I don't find it confusing at all.

Up until when the iPhone 12 came out, I used Android. Then I got an iPhone 12 Pro and I haven't hated it. I do miss many of the customization features available on Android, but iOS is extremely polished, and simple.

Where it falls short is the apps that I sometimes used on Android, are not available on iOS. Then you get into the options for Reddit (not any more), other social apps, and now Lemmy. Apps for the same service can vary in features, which can be a big deal.

I often find myself using my old s10 for apps like Jerboa (Mlem is okay, but I prefer Jerbo), apps for car diagnostics, previously Boost for Reddit, etc.

My next phone will likely be Android. However, probably not for another year or two, maybe longer. I'm waiting for a big step in hardware, and potentially an option with a hidden selfie camera. I'd love to have a full screen phone from the likes of Google or Samsung. One can wish.

I have no desire to go back to Reddit full time. It's still a great resource when looking up solutions, but I will not be browsing it.

I used maybe 5 at most different subs. Half related to hockey. There's no real loss.

Honestly cheaper than I would have expected. However, still a nice chunk of money to shell out for a community, and for that, I commend.

What's the operating cost? Thank you, for running this server! :)

An alternative to ziptying to the frame or using epoxy would be to try ziptying the ends together. One slightly loose zip tie on each cable end (just below the base of the connector). Then using one or more zip ties, tie the two ends together. At least the ends won't disconnect this way, but whether or not the connection is good enough is a different story.

Could be a good temporary fix until a new cable is purchased.

You could try zip ties. Put one on both the male and female side (where the cable meets the base of the connector). Then use one or two other zip ties to hold them together.

I don't have zip ties to show an example, but hopefully you get the idea. Might work temporarily until you can get a new cable.

One of my favourite photos when getting into photography.

I imagine a split keyboard requires you to at least type properly?

I'm a software engineer with wrist issues, and would love to use an ergonomic keyboard, but I never really learned to type properly. I often have my hands overlapping the opposite sides of the keyboard. I'll use all finger on my hands, but mainly it's my pointer, middle, and ring finger doing the typing. I feel like this would be impossible on a split kayboard, and would take a crazy amount of time to get back up to speed typing properly.

I've used it, and it's It's fairly simple. You sign in with Reddit, choose either posts or comments, apply any subreddit filters you want, choose the delete method, and off you go. If you have a lot of posts or comments, it will take quite some time, but it will get it done.

It also lets you edit the comment to a specified value before deleting it, which is nice, since it's a soft delete. The content remains in Reddit's database and is just labelled as "deleted."

I've not used it for any other services.

Before I deleted Twitter, I had blocked numerous accounts. I mainly used it for Hockey related things, and the amount of harassment, bots, and spam that happens in hockey Twitter (probably sports Twitter as a whole) is astounding. Removing blocking will make Twitter far more unusable, or at least less tolerable.

I never really knew how much existed on the internet until around 2014, so I never got to experience things like IRC and small, engaging, and enthusiastic communities in their prime. I really hope Lemmy and the whole of fediverse takes off, cause I'm really enjoying it here.
