Preparing for multiple mid year reviews to justify my existence on research projects. Academia is pretty exhausting.

I don’t even have meaningful results yet because I’m so busy giving PowerPoint’s to people explaining my research.

Here’s to hoping they like me enough to give me more money next year.

My ex was stationed here many years ago. He spoke fondly of all the Filipino workers that lived on the island. He never mentioned asylum seekers. So either it was long before they aren’t or they are not near the military base. The island is not big though. I would imagine any reports of a sailor messing with civilians would not be well received by the navy.

So… I’m also not a climate scientist, but I also research dynamical systems within a time-based series (computer scientist). All of the research on this is very difficult to read, but it all sort of leads up to the fact that we are approaching some sort of tipping point where the system, in this case climate, will bifurcate. Meaning things will be different and can turn into chaos (chaos theory).

I’ve spoken with Dr. Edward Ott at University of Maryland on his work with climate change, and I’ve spoke with chaos theory researchers at University of Arizona. It’s all very abstract, and it’s difficult to predict what this actually means for the climate and for us.

I was offered a promotion. Looks good on the resume, no extra pay and a lot more headache. I’m already burnt out, have no motivation, etc. I wish I could take like 3-6 months off to just reset and level out. But that’s not in the cards for me.

This was my first thought. All of our data is already on a marketplace for companies to buy and sell. What is stopping any government agency, federal or smaller from simply participating in this?

We need to fix the root of the problem if this is to be stopped.

I saw an article a few weeks ago that said Russia is building a town for all the Christian’s nationalists. If you build it they will come?

Bulba is #1 for a reason!

You did a great job!

Right!?! But where else where I shop? And are any of the other grocery stores any better with their treatment of workers?

If I remember correctly, as I’m no expert in the affairs of Israel; the right wing people vote for this stuff. But they themselves have a religious exemption, so they don’t need to send their own kids to mandatory service.

Very messed up for the youth who have no say. War only affects the civilians who suffer for the goals of their overlords.

Agree with you there.

Hopefully the smaller establishments I frequent will take my advice into consideration. Just raise the food and drink price by whatever % they’d tack on. Transparency gives a better experience.

California restaurants have this same problem. It only did one thing, kept me from eating at restaurants. It was so infuriating to get the bill and have some BS fee added that I just stopped going out.
