Is your intent to learn from and preserve a lost culture, or profit off of stolen goods?

I feel like it's pretty simple.

I don't really care for cats, but if you could talk to them you could make a fuck load of money. So I'll stay up all night making perfect pizzas, then go inform all the cat ladies why their cats hate them during the day.

I had one of these things, USB 2.0 20gb laptop HDD, rechargeable batteries, external HDD/mp3 player/ audio recorder. Pretty fucking cool for 2002.

You're saying the LCD panel? It's possible, you'll need to figure out how many pins your LCD uses. If I recall correctly, there are 30 and 40 pin variants, but if you are buying a new panel you'll need this info anyway.

If you know the pin configuration, you can get something like this

https://www.amazon.com/Controller-Driver-1920x1080-30Pins-Screen/dp/B06W5DTGKC

Should be a power cable to the board, then a 30 or 40 pin ribbon cable to the LCD, then audio and HDMI on the board.

I used to work in computer repair, and we had so many "lightly damaged" LCD panels. A couple of my coworkers made diy monitors with them, and had no complaints.

There was a recall on, I think, Chevy headlights. The LEDs were too bright, unfortunately recalls are at the will of the owner.

My electric toothbrush does 30 seconds per quadrant, 2 minutes total. I'm 38 have zero cavities and my teeth are fine. I only brush once a day.

I just bought a USB m.2 adapter and flashed steam OS to the drive before I ever even put it in the deck. First boot was just like booting the original drive.

You're fine, just follow the iFixit guide. It's super easy. After removing the screws I pulled it apart with my fingernails, no problem. Remove screw, replace drive, put screw back in. This is like, day one stuff at a computer repair job. Again you're fine. If you can do a Lego set, you can replace the m.2 on a steam deck. Don't psych yourself out, my mother could do it.
