What a relief. I was so stressed about this vote.

An extra capacitor for your air conditioner (if you have one). They're like $20-$30.

Our AC stopped working today and we were very lucky there was a store relatively near us that had them in stock and would sell to homeowners (I guess some places only sell AC parts to contractors). Anyways, it was easy to replace, our AC is back, and we got an extra one for the next time we have to replace it.

Ugh don't look at my bookshelves. They're overflowing.

There's just something so comforting about having books around. It makes my office feel cozy and it gives real professor vibes even though I'm not teaching anymore.

I have a PhD in sociology and I actually work in market research. I don't have a tech background at all!

Seinfeld! I know every word for every episode. If I hear like one line of dialogue I can guess what episode it is. I'm obsessed. I even have a giant Seinfeld tattoo. It's my favorite show of all time!

Gobble gobble mother fucker!

Misled??? What did they think he was all about???? What did they think he could possibly offer the LGBTQ community????

It certainly was unrealistic to think this would be an unbiased arm of our government.

It's so disgusting. I know they're talking about mandatory inspections for CHILDREN for sports. I mean can they even hear themselves????? They're so consumed with hatred they can't even hear how crazy it all sounds.

I saw that there were no posts in this community so I thought I'd try to kick things off with a recommendation!

I'm coming from Reddit and I'm just hoping this community could grow. I figured I should do my part and try to help by posting!

Anyways, I really enjoyed this book. It was a mystery, it was creepy, and it just kept my interest all the way through. And at then end, the story wasn't like wrapped up in a neat bow, it was kinda messy which I appreciated. I think some mysteries try to hard to answer all your lingering questions when sometimes there are no answers. It was just fun!

There are some interesting stats in here (not exactly what you're looking for but it's just more of the story):

https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2023/05/23/1177542605/abortion-bans-drive-off-doctors-and-put-other-health-care-at-risk

Here are some stats I thought were interesting:

  • An early indication of that impending medical "brain drain" came in February, when 76% of respondents in a survey of more than 2,000 current and future physicians say they would not even apply to work or train in states with abortion restrictions.
  • While applications for OB-GYN residencies are down nationwide, the decrease in states with complete abortion bans was more than twice as large as those with no restrictions (10.5% vs. 5.2%).
