I had been using another name that expressed gratitude in the affirmative, decided to change it up to a name that is more for saying no politely.

Cigars
They’re delicious and relaxing and the FDA says 1-2 per day don’t actually have a significant impact on health.
Light up!
Not really sure that “spirituality” really exists for me, as I’ve come to define the term in my adulthood. I used to think that this is what psychedelics gave me, but I don’t think that’s accurate.
Psychedelics, particularly mescaline, can fill me with a since of awe and joy. Everything is beautiful, everything seems connected and at once independent. The perpetual hum of life and nature and mechanics that is the universe, it’s amazing and horrifying. Those feelings can be overwhelming (and sometimes delusional) but I’d hesitate to call it spiritual.
It’s frankly pretty upsetting that I just finally started using all this stuff and Meta wants to fuck with it. Literally just downloaded all my content from FB and Insta and deactivated the FB (keeping the insta at least for a minute I need it for work purposes)
That was my first book of his I read as well, back in college when I was taking a true crime class. My school had great English electives that I kept taking for fun and it set me back a year because I didn’t have anybody smart to tell me that they didn’t get me any closer to graduating.
I’ll check it out for sure! Like you said, it’s human stories in historical context and he has such a knack for that. So much historical non-fiction struggles to either tell the human story while also providing the straight facts in an easily consumable way, or tell the history while providing human color. He is really great at striking a good balance with it.
Hadn’t made it to “I’m Sorry” in a while, and her annunciation on “We’re unstoppabewal- indestructabewal” is kinda hilarious. Especially since on the original track they don’t even really do that socal blink 182 vowel thing and say it mostly normal.
Looks like bandcamp links work... soooo there's that! I'll try with spotify later but I'd rather share bandcamp links when possible anyway. Awesome! Beehaw rules ttyl.
On the same note as others here recommending instrumental jazz, I also listen to a decent amount of international. Not understanding the language helps me to not be distracted by it. So there's an endless wealth of interesting music in the Sublime Frequencies catalogue and it just drifts into the background for me unless I actually choose to focus on it.
Curious about this one. From the trailers it looked a little... try-hard / cringe? Nothing against J-Law just seemed like an odd one that might suck. Will keep my eyes on it.
Fair enough! The stair scene was the one time where I actually laughed out loud and stopped enjoying the combat. But then whatever points I had detracted because it was dumb I gave back because I laughed. Honestly if I just had to rate the end of the movie it wouldn't be a total winner.
Just chiming in to say that after several false starts in keeping a journal / knowledge base (including a false start with SilverBullet) I’m finally keeping up with one now since I installed SilverBullet on a raspberry pi and got a daily note template installed. It’s just so clean and easy to use that I’m actually happy to open it and crank out some notes a few times a day, or when I’m sitting down for deeper research.
