Youtube-dl to download things in flac format from youtube (and sometimes rarely other sites when what i want isn't on youtube, which is rare because people upload everything under the sun). I haven't the need for anything more complicated.

Nearly all video games, and by extension where i get them - Steam. Open source gaming is simply not an option. One can - and i do - stay away from the big annoying AAA companies most of which of just subsidiaries of yet bigger annoyinger tech companies, and Valve is actually pretty decent about open source, but one cannot simply game without proprietary software.

Discord and WhatsApp. Literally everyone i know uses one of them.

For me at least i have no problems with the UI, functionality, etc, of these apps' foss equivalents but the main problem is the userbase. You cannot have a messaging app with no people to talk with and you cannot and a game store with no games to play. You can have the best design and software ever but that won't do shit without the established legacy and publicity of a big company.

Good job Georgia! While yes they are not technically renewable i think nuclear power is a much more realistic solution for energy problems as true renewables don't make nearly enough to power a country and what waste nuclear power does produce is comically little in comparison to the energy it makes. I don't get why people are so against it.

Flying. I already hate it because of sensory issues and the general stress it causes me, helping the environment is a bonus. Sadly i live in the US, so i need to take flights to get anywhere vaguely far away, even within my own damned country.

Of course if we are talking the environment then the only things that can be done to have any actual impact will reduce the profits of corporations and as such will not happen.

Roughly half the music i have is from some kind of media but i'm going to specifically mention the Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDQ7hXMLxGc. I didn't play the game but from what i know of it it is very janky, but the music is epic.

I was born too late to experience most of these, but i am currently playing through Half-Life 1 which is from 1998 and i'm greatly enjoying it. I tried to emulate some of the Zeldas from this time but got confused and quit. Maybe i'll try again.

Saving this thread for writing inspiration.

I've always dreamed of being the last human on earth. There are signs of civilization yet it is all overgrown and in the process of being taken in by nature. The climate and ecosystem has rebalanced itself from what man did. There's no else to annoy or judge me, and i can do whatever i please without caring for how i am perceived. I can finally be my true self. Eventually i, too, die, and nature simply forgets as mankind's influence fades.

I'm the same. Can't sleep if there is a sliver of light. I got myself one of those sleeping masks and it's great

ברי סחרוף - השומר של הגן - Old ass Israeli song. Trippy animation, and weird lyrics that get really sad once you think about them.

To be honest? I have no clue. I joined a year ago and i remember literally nothing of that time. I then got bored after a while and left. Then the reddit thing happened and so i guess i'll here more.

Yea, quite often. I mostly read ebooks at the moment, used to frequent my local library before covid hit. The genres i read are all over the place, and basically depend on my mood and what books i can find. I recently finished The Tetris Effect (yes it's not just a video game) and quite liked it.
