This is an overwhelming but marvelous collection of spices. Do you get them in bulk, at the grocery store then relocate them to jars, or are they from all over and the jars keep everything generally uniform?

Thank you ☺️❤️.
I didn’t know what an alfajor was and looked it up. Thanks for helping broaden my dessert horizons!

Also, thanks for the suggestions. I’ve done a few filled desserts before, but most of them are filled after baking; this one was filled after baking.

As far as walnuts go, funny enough, that’s a big “no thanks” for me b/c I’m allergic to tree nuts (i.e. walnuts, almonds, cashews, etc) lol. 🍁

The Sleeper brownie loaf
(I don’t typically make brownies in a loaf pan lol)

But little do they know, there’s wonderfully gooey peanut butter inside!

The perfect way to murder someone that loves chocolate and has a peanut allergy
or
makes a nice treat for your friends. 🍁

Thank you for that link, it was a great read! The Luddite has a new subscriber :)

I definitely agree that much of the new technology we see promoted more often is backward and, dare I say, even hurtful. Though I do suppose “promotion” and capitalism typically go hand-in-hand.

Maybe once I finally get my sh*t together and learn a decent amount of coding, I can create some actually helpful computer technologies lol. 🍁

First, thanks for modding this hive @OneRedFox, second thanks for posting this.

With as quickly as technology moves and the myriad of reasons new technology is pushed/adopted, it’s all too easy to overlook immoral and unethical behavior. This article definitely touches on many things that people should be wary of regarding the use (and blind trust) of AI technology. Though only anecdotal, it unfortunately seems like most people that have the influence to push meaningful discussion about subjects like this in the larger social arenas are too occupied with how “shiny” AI technology is.

That being said, I’m going on record now and stating that I’ll be fighting for the resistance against Skynet. 🍁

Thanks for the additional explanation. As much as I like to read this stuff to try and stay informed, it’s difficult to understand what it all really means and how it all really affects the average person.

So much of the time it just comes across as a bunch of old rich white guys playing some kind of weird rpg and the poors are always the ones that suffer the consequences of their terrible saving throws. 🍁

It depends on the day and the mood, but this is usually a good song to get you up going for the day.

  • Song - Mr. Blue Sky
  • Album - Out of the Blue
  • Artist - Electric Light Orchestra

Hey !poc Hive. I’m Canadian of Indo-Caribbean descent and now living in the US. I enjoy baking (obvi) and the science behind it, video games, a wide variety of music & movies, comic books, finding sneaky ways to talk about socialism, helping people try to understand why having empathy is a good thing, and a great many other things. I’m currently trying to teach myself Python programming and get into D&D (one of those things is harder than the other lol). 🍁

Working on perfecting the classics...or making it perfect to me at least.

The recipe used was a modified version of this one, The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie Technique, from Chef Penny Stankiewicz.

Another angle

A ridiculous premise, outlandish over-the-top characters, blood & gore for the blood & gores sake of it, a lederhosen (?) clad heroin, and Casper Van Dien. I don’t know if I can think of a better set-up.

It was generally a fun & silly movie that captured the grindhouse film spirit. A quick caveat before I list a few criticisms, the movie could have been made this was purposefully and I just didn’t “like, get it, man.” So much like the grindhouse films they were trying to emulate, there were some sequences that dragged on a bit and some that were a bit oddly cut together. Which again, I can definitely see as being done on purpose. My last qualm would be I would’ve loved to see more action! I wanted to see that montage put to more use.

That said, the cheesy (wink) dialogue, action, and gore you do get is fantastic and everything a grindhouse film should be. Considering that it was crowd/self-funded movie I would give it a rating of 88% (reference from the movie). But really I’d give it a “recommend” if you enjoyed Planet Terror, Machete, or Kill Bill.

Did you see Mad Heidi (2022), what did you think?
