Hi everyone,

For the life of me, I cannot install hplip on Debian bookworm.

Here is what I get when I run apt install hplip-gui:

Unpacking printer-driver-postscript-hp (3.22.10+dfsg0-2) ...
dpkg: error processing archive /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-jEfRdO/7-printer-driver-postscript-hp_3.22.10+dfsg0-2_amd64.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/cups/filter/hpps', which is also in package hplipclassdriver 3.23.5
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-jEfRdO/1-libsane-hpaio_3.22.10+dfsg0-2_amd64.deb
 /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-jEfRdO/2-printer-driver-hpcups_3.22.10+dfsg0-2_amd64.deb
 /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-jEfRdO/5-hplip_3.22.10+dfsg0-2_amd64.deb
 /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-jEfRdO/7-printer-driver-postscript-hp_3.22.10+dfsg0-2_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S I tried installing hplip using the run file provided by HP, but I ran into other issues. Bookworm doesn't seem to be supported yet.

Depending on your situation, most of your issues can be avoided by not owning a smartphone. It's extreme (by today's standards, at least), but it does work. I ditched my smartphone back in 2017 for a cheap flip phone. I can find spare parts on eBay easily. My car is older, so there is no SaaS crap in it. If I need to keep in touch with someone, we can use SMS, call each other or meet in real life. I use a Linux laptop for banking/browsing the web and I keep a physical GPS in my car in case of emergency.

and I agree with you. Privacy is pretty much gone already.

It was a good episode, but there are a few things I didn't like:

  • Blowing up a space refinery on a whim.
  • Too much romance/interpersonal stuff, still.
  • Pike needs to grow a spine and be more assertive.

I give it a 6/10; not bad, not great. I'm looking forward to the new episode.

I've noticed this too. Most of the stuff on Reddit's frontpage has an angry undertone. Anger = Engagement.

How much of a PIA is it to install Linux on a Chromebook? I'm looking for a small laptop and Chromebooks are the perfect size.

Linux Mint's software manager is not bad.

Do you know where that tight little ball in your lower abdomen should go? Down the shitter. You don't have to internalise it. You are your own best friend.

How do you close/minimise the windows?

Just wanted to thank the team for the vaporwave themes. They great!

Would it eventually possible to create our own themes via a CSS editor?

Anyone here without a smartphone? How's your life like?

Do you use a non-tiling window manager like IceWM or blackbox? I use a patched version of motif window manager and it works really well.

Please share!

Hello everyone,

I'm currently learning Russian, and I'm looking for a community where I could have discussions about the Russian language. There is one community on lemmygrad.ml, but it's not very active.

Ca fait une vingtaine d'annees que j'habite en Ontario, mais je suis ne au Quebec. Lorsque j'etais au primaire et au secondaire, ecrire en lettres cursives etait encore la norme.

Est-ce que c'est encore enseignee?

As the title says, I am looking for active newsgroups. I found alt.fan.usenet and alt.usenet.newbies

Hello everyone,

I've recently acquired a TRS-80 Colour Computer 3. I am looking for a way to transfer ML/BASIC programs between my CoCo and my PC, but I am stuck. There is a device called 'DriveWire' that would fit the bill, but I don't think it's sold by its creator anymore.

What would you recommend?

Thanks
