There was an Out of the Loop post that discussed this: https://lemmy.world/post/310513

Help me brianstorm the purpose and some rules, and I'm down!

So, what will be the content? People stimming? Tips on how to stim? Stimming information and advocacy?

Where will we draw the line between laughing at ourselves and being laughed at?

I just want to point out that a group of people are gathering to ensure that they don't agree to follow a person that they don't have any obligation to follow anyway.

That's some straight up gaslighting shit. If they can figure out to charge it, they can print it on a bill.

that's a good point. people will want to leave IG to get away from the influencing culture of IG once they hear about a cleaner alternative that they can use to block out the influencing. that's going to be the slowest part. I'm likening it to how people left MySpace for FB to get away from the madness that was MYSpace for the less cluttered and more exclusive scene that was FB.

another aspect to this that I didn't mention is the integration with the Fediverse that will be popularized by the Reddit migration. once people see that their Lemmy, kbin, Mastodon, and Pixelfed can be accessed from a common location using a common language, they will see it as simpler, more integrated, and with more control over their social media with a rejection of corporate BS. this depends on how well the Fediverse integrates the different media and advances in phone apps.

additionally, I've ran the models (X^2, regression [y^2 = ax^2 + b^2], confirmatory factor analysis, global environmental multiscale, and Tyra Banks). the stats show a range of 5%-75% probability with a ±10% error depending on how I define the degrees of Farenheit (mostly went with radian degrees👌).

We hypothesized that autistic adults may be erroneously judged as deceptive or lacking credibility due to demonstrating unexpected and atypical behaviors. Thirty autistic and 29 neurotypical individuals participated in video-recorded interviews, and we measured their demonstration of gaze aversion, repetitive body movements, literal interpretation of figurative language, poor reciprocity, and flat affect. Participants (N = 1410) viewed one of these videos and rated their perception of the individual’s truthfulness or credibility. The hypothesis was partially supported, with autistic individuals perceived as more deceptive and less credible than neurotypical individuals when telling the truth. However, this relationship was not influenced by the presence of any of the target behaviors, but instead, by the individual’s overall presentation.

This is a community for respectful discussion and memes related to autism acceptance. All neurotypes are welcome.

I'm not that tech savvy...so please be patient. From what I can tell, the slurs are the only things that hard-coded in. Am I missing something else?

  1. Does hard-coded mean it cannot be changed even though it's FOSS? According to that conversation, they seem a bit concerned that the tables with the slurs can be easily removed.

  2. I'm okay with slurs being blocked, but I guess it would depend on how they define the slurs and all that. Also, maybe it would be a better idea to remove the slur protection from the actual Fediverse and let instances apply their own version, but at the same time, I see benefit to blocking it universally. It's not something that's clearly black-and-white to me.

I guess that aside from their personal political views regarding marxism-leninism (I'm assuming that's what 'ml' stand for), I'm confused as to how that practically affects the Fediverse. For what it's worth, I tend to subscribe to anarcho-socialism, so while I have overlap with marxism-leninism, I'm vehemently opposed to any authoritarian/bureaucratic centralized control of an economy. Which means that I also don't agree with their application of marxism. However, I see that as irrelevant to the Fediverse, and as far as I can tell, the Fediverse is quite decentralized anyway.

"Marketing" is a corporate euphemism for manipulation.

With people learning about Fediverse, I'm guessing Instagram. Why? Because IG has become overwhelmed with influencers and TikTok-like junk. The initial wave of people into Pixelfed will be techies that want a break from that scene. Their friends will hear about it. The friends that just want to have an IG-like experience to share their pictures with friends while avoiding all the rest of the noise will slowly transfer over. Once they hit the critical mass, the switch will happen. This will take at least another year or two.
