It did succeed in driving some of Blacpain’s few loyal customers away from the brand, so as a shot to one’s own foot it was really brilliant.

I stood in line for the Moonswatch on release date. I was one of the lucky ones to get my hands on one, after 8 hours of waiting. I've been wearing my Earth model regularly, especially as a fun Summer watch.
I couldn't make myself available on the Blancpain launch weekend and had also noticed the distinct difference in hype between the 2 launches. Nevertheless, when I came across a Swatch store last month, I had to go in and check them out in person ... and walked out with the Pacific model. I often wear black and it's a nice pop of color on my wrist.
I have about 12 watches I wear regularly (nothing too fancy, Stowa Marine is my most expensive watch, Bulova Lunar Pilot my most worn watch) and both the Moonswatch and the new Blancpain Swatch both have their place in my collection. Especially when my outfit needs a splash of color or fun. It's like putting on a colorful pair of sneakers under a subdued outfit - the contrast works pretty well.
Long story short, very happy with my 2 collab Swatches, they add fun to my watch collection and my wrist.
It’s ugly. You can literally pay lesser for a Seiko diver which has better performance too.
Your average watch buyer isn’t going to know what Blancpain is. All they see is a cheap looking watch which costs a lot more than everything else at the Swatch shop.
It's almost like nobody cares about Blancpain in the first place. I know they had a rich history and all that, but they went out of business, and this Blancpain isn't really the same Blancpain as it used to be, someone just bought the rights to the name and recreated the brand. And now Swatch made an expensive, plastic, disposable version of it.
The real Blancpain has died long long long time ago
Yea I’m not paying $500+ for what is essentially a disposable watch.
To be fair, the Moonswatch was an industry changing event. Although I think you’re right. I didn’t know anything about Blancpain and the prices are high enough that anyone in the swatch price bracket is not even close to being in the Blancpain price bracket. Omega was a big price jump but nowhere near as big of a jump.
MoonSwatch seemed to be at the top end of what they could charge in my opinion. Plus the FF is too thick.
