What is a watch in the $1500 range that you currently covet? I’m looking to move on my Sinn 556 MoP around that price (it doesn’t get any wrist time) so thinking about a one-out-one-in replacement. Made me curious what everyone loves at that price point. PFA my 556.

I swapped one of those for a Seiko spb253j - love the shape and color of the Seiko. It wears insanely well on a NATO.

Nomos Club Campus or pre-order one of Farer's moonphase watches for next year.

[–] Witetrashman@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Wait, you can pre-order those?

[–] Bigggity@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

You're at least the third person just in the post to suggest the Club Campus and I just don't get it. Nomos watches are super clean looking but don't compare to the formal dressiness of the 556 MOP with metal bracelet. It'd be a more casual watch, imo

Ball Fireman Enterprise (NM2098C-S20J-BK)

I'd look at some used Grand Seiko quartz. SBGX269 perhaps.

Black mother of pearl ? That is amazing looking

Right now for around 1000-1500 range that i really want to get are:

  1. Grand Seiko 6145-8050 from 1972 in Mint Condition.
  2. Speedmaster Reduced, i think i seen one used at around 1700
  3. Longines Legend Diver

all of them are used ofc, i don't really like to buy things new

You can get a used 856 for around $1200.00.

Christopher Ward twelve or a Longines legend diver. The legend diver is a little more expensive but I’ve seen them on chrono24 for 1800ish

Sinn is the watch I want next but not that dial. I have a 42 Murph I need to offload. Grail watch is probably some type of grand seiko but I don’t look to find one in particular since it’s a long ways off.

[–] Admit-to-IM@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Used seiko marinemaster 300.

I recently got this watch with the fine-link bracelet and am finding it hard to take it off my wrist for any length of time. It’s subtle yet fabulous.

Sorry, this is not much help, but my 556a rs is my favorite in that price range. Another one frederique constant highlife maybe 2nd hand.

I was considering this exact watch a while back. Would you consider a trade for a Sinn 104 St Sa ABE?

[–] Cuddlewitcorpses@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Any Christopher Ward watches in that range are very nice. I’d probably go with them.

[–] HarrisLam@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The only brands that really rival Sinn are Oris and Nomos. Longines too but you don't get very far in that brand with 1500.

While Oris and Nomos can rival Sinn, I don't think there's a point in trading those with what you have here. Consider saving money and trade up to like Tudor, IWC or similar brands.

Junghans - Max Bill

Serica 5303 with a white dial for me. Just love the unique details and their distinct design.

[–] Novetab@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

You are gonna regret. I bought a longines to have a 3 watch collection and it drilled into me how much I miss wearing my MOP.

[–] jwern01@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I picked up a really nice Omega SMP 2264.50 “Peter Blake” on its Speedy-style bracelet with box and papers for $1500 a few months ago and absolutely love it!

[–] VGEez@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I just ordered this, well the regular black dial one, for my ~$1500 GADA watch lol. I was considering Nomos club, Longines Spirit

You will be lucky if you can move it for $1100. Seriously. Just keep it.

[–] unperfect@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

My current watch goal is a Sinn 104a.. those Arabic numerals with the fine link bracelet just looks so perfect to me.

[–] JPilot10@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

How about a proper black 556?

[–] CDNWatchGuy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Buy this one. It's on my long list of must haves.

[–] Still_Equivalent_811@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I haven't seen this before and it's a great looking piece. I really love the 556 and would love to make one my daily. Do you think this could be a daily? I see comments saying it looks too flashy and you've said it's not but an everyday wearer?

Going to Google this watch a whole bunch now but would love to see more pictures.

Any idea what you would swap it out for?

[–] BlackSheep554@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It could be a DD if you don’t like date windows. It’s not flashy at all. It’s all satin finished case and the dial is only colorful at certain angles. At others it looks just black.
Not sure what I’ll replace it with - I need a proper dress watch in my collection and also would like a moonphase. The new CW moonphase has my attention, as does the Cw Twelve at a similar price point. Or I’ll just put whatever I make off this toward a more expensive piece. Would really like a JLC mast control or reverso as a dress piece; still eyeing north year two-tone DJ as well which could easily replace this slot.
