Swapping back and forth all of the time is getting to be a monotonous. I would like to sell one and keep the other. In the beginning I was very partial to the explorer but sometimes I can’t imagine not having the date function. Plus the DJ does sit a larger on the wrist and that is also nice. Tough choice here to just walk away with one…So help me decide because I am really at an impasse with this..

Tough call, right.

[–] SanderDieman@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Simple: keep BOTH

[–] unPaloVerde@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Explorer all the way

[–] jaytcfc@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Right obviously

[–] winny9@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Personally, the Explorer

[–] liamstrain@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

No date Explorer ftw

[–] FlowerChild7572@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Absolutely the DJ.

[–] JimmyV64@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Personally, I'd go with the Explorer. In fact, I'm on the "list" for a 224270 right now.

[–] Reasons99@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I wish the explorer bezel had the OP bezel. Now that would be a perfect watch.

Go explore the world; don’t be a slave to the date…just saying…

Left clock and right band

[–] Happytallperson@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Left. The magnifying glass Rolex insist on having over dates just looks silly.

I think this was posted yesterday.

[–] HattiestMan@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I say Explorer. It has character and you probably won't miss the date most of the time.

The DJ is nice, but lots of watches look like it. If it was fluted and/or had the jubilee, or had a distinctive color, it'd be different, but as it is...

I have the DJ and for everyday I choose Explorer

[–] TheGuruFromIpanema@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
[–] plk7@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I would usually say Explorer without hesitation, but that DJ is very attractive. Might have to against type.

[–] NotFrankZappaToday@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I'm a sucker for sport watches with baton hands, so I would rock that DJ all day, and twice on Sundays.

[–] Dunder-MifflinPaper@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Domed bezel is much much better than the smooth bezel to me, in terms of aesthetics. It’s what stops me from buying an explorer.

[–] happyexit7@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I have that DJ. Love it. Wear it everyday, everywhere. I need the date function otherwise both are great.

[–] ProofMusic4630@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Definitely right

[–] the_alert@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Left- I have the strong personal opinion that date wheels are even more of an obsolete complication than the mechanical watch itself is an obsolete tool. They break up symmetry of the face numerals/indices and gets in the way of the beautiful patterns or finishes. A tourbillon is useless, but at least it looks cool, is a complicated complication and exists because some one just felt like it.

[–] _echnaton@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I'm a date man myself too, so right.

[–] lukeroux1@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Both look bang average. But sometimes it’s a good thing.

[–] Popeye722@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’ve learned that I wont keep a watch without a date

[–] vawhitewater@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I really dislike the cyclops so I would keep the Explorer.

[–] Chirps_Golden@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

DJ for me, nicer finishing

[–] dwitchagi@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Torn on this one. I don’t love the numerals on the explorer, but I do like the no-date. Gun to the head: DJ.

[–] Basher57@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Hands down the DJ. Logo at 12, cyclops and bracelet are all unique Rolex brand cues that don’t date the watch but enhance it as a ‘timeless’ design. By contrast, the ‘Modern’ Rolex Explorer is the total opposite. Probably the dullest and most generic looking watch by any manufacturer. Those numerals simply scream ‘welcome to 1990’. Even Mercedes hands can’t save it.

[–] decredd@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I have both too. I wear the Explorer more often, mostly because it's more under the radar. I also feel the DJ is now a tad too dressy sometimes with the way everything has gone so casual.

[–] MobiuS_360@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I prefer the look of the explorer but I also cannot live with a date function so Datejust

[–] Tom0laSFW@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Right by a country mile

[–] XenoDeGregio@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
[–] iggy34@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

left. can't stand the cyclops

[–] LockMyWorld@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Explorer 10/10

[–] RenaxTM@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If a watch has numbers on 3, 6 and 9 it needs a big 12 on top too. And the time of day is pretty useless to know if I don't know what day it is, I've got a meeting the 24th at 10 o'clock, no use showing up tomorrow at 10 for that.

[–] No_Customer9915@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
[–] GMT2andEHTBP@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’d keep the explorer between those two
